The selected original is Underland:A Deep Time Journey,a travelogue written by the famous British natural literature writer Robert Macfarlane, who has been known for his artistic writing style and exquisite description of nature, people, and scenery. In this book,he visits a dozen subterranean sites:Mesolithic tombs, modern dungeons, deep sea laboratories, forest mycorrhizal networks, wartime mass graves and so on,describes what he has seen and heard about the mysterious Europe underground world and portrays his sensations and inner feelings when he explores the natural world. The source text is a travelogue which involves many narratives, explanations, scenery descriptions as well as the inner feelings of the author.Based on the fact that the source text is characterized with a sense of literariness by applying beautiful language and vivid figures of speech, and also presents readability by introducing the author’s explorations to the underground world as well as the related geographical and humanistic knowledge. Therefore, the translator selects Translator Behavior Criticism as the guiding theory of her translation practice to restore the literariness and readability of the source text, making her translation conform to the reasonable degree in "Truth-Seeking—Utility-Attaining" Evaluative Model of Continuum.Through this translation practice, the translator comes to the conclusion that the"Truth-Seeking—Utility-Attaining" Evaluative Model of Continuum of Translation Behavior Criticism conforms to the translation requirements of travelogue translation and can accurately convey the readability and literariness of the source text. This translation practice report consists of five chapters:the first chapter briefly introduces the author and the source text Underland:A Deep Time Journey;the second chapter introduces the translation process;the third chapter illustrates the theoretical basis of this translation report;the fourth chapter analyzes and summarizes the translation methods adopted in the process of translation to manifest the literariness and readability of the translation;the fifth chapter makes a conclusion of this translation practice.
