| This paper is a translation report about the novel,Little Stories of Married Life,written by American author Mary Steward Cutting.The translator has translated two of the eleven stories which tell women’s behavioural and psychological changes in their married life.Based on Eugene Nida’s "functional equivalence theory",this report mainly analyzes the translation at the lexical level and syntactical level and has encountered problems in translating words and sentences.For these problems,translator adopted kinds of translation methods for processing and analyzing,primarily focused on methods of amplification,omission,adaptive translation,division,syntactic linearity and reverse translation,which are applied to achieve lexical equivalence and syntactic equivalence between the target text and the original text.In this translation practice,the translator can apply the translation theory and methods to practice.At the same time,the translator hopes to gain lots of knowledge from the translation experience and constantly improve herself. |
