Study On LiuYusong’s Chronicle

Liu Yusong was a famous Confucian and historian in the late Qing Dynasty.Forced to make a living,Liu Yusong traveled with his father Liu Wenqi to the four corners of the country,successively serving as the aides of Cen Jiangong,Guo Peilin,Du Wenlan and Zeng Guofan,and later died at the school of Jinling book office.Liu Yusong has devoted his whole life to academic research.In addition to inheriting and sorting out the Six Dynasties"JiuShu" in Zhouyi Zhengyi and other ancient books,he has made outstanding achievements in historiography,especially in Chorography.He participated in the collation of historical books such as the Jiu Tangshu and Yudijisheng,and compiled them into the collation of the Jiu Tangshu with great academic value.He also participated in the compilation of local chronicles such as the restoration of Yizheng county annals by Daoguang.His Tongyitang anthology,which is a collection of many textual research articles,is also an important document for the study of his historical achievements.In addition,Liu Yusong has two important chronological works,Chronological biography of Mr Wang Chuanshan and Notes of Chronological biography of Four Hong’s,which are of great historical value.Chronological biography of Mr Wang Chuanshan was compiled by Liu Yusong after collating A suicide note from Chuanshan District by Jinling publishing house.Since the middle of Qing Dynasty,such as the summary of general contents of Siku Quanshu,the reason for the book’s completion is not only because of the trend of promoting the study of Chuanshan,but also because Zeng Guofan’s publication of Chuanshan’s relic provides rich materials for the compilation of Wang Chuanshan’s Chronicle,and also because Yizheng’s study of Liu’s Classics emphasizes "Li" Liu Yusong was good at combing the ancient ballads and proverbs and collating the A suicide note from Chuanshan District.In terms of content,he not only recorded Wang Fuzhi’s life and academic activities,but also reflected the compilation features of quoted poems and appendix documents.Chronological biography of Mr Wang Chuanshan,the first chronicle of Wang Fuzhi compiled by the Qing people,has important literature It is of great academic value to offer valuable materials and research results.Liu Yusong’s other chronicles,as a Notes of Chronological biography of Four Hong’s,was collected in Nanjing Library,which has not been concerned by the academic community.According to Liang Qichao’s theory from a book that Authenticity and age books that appeared suddenly before "old records are not recorded" should be regarded as"determined to be false or suspicious",we should first distinguish its authenticity.It can be seen from the handwriting and the inscription of Chronological biography of Four Hongs written by Hong Enguang and the articles such as "back and forth discussion with Mr.Liu Boshan in Yizheng",that it is Liu Yusong’s manuscript,and indeed it is the "notes" made by Hong Rukui on the basis of Qian Daxin’s Chronological biography of HongWenhui and Chronological biography of HongWenmin:its contents are 195 in total,or correction of text errors,or "contents" of the life of the characters,As a rare manuscript,the documentary value of Notes of Chronological biography of Four Hongs is self-evident,and it has higher academic value by indicating the compilation style of Chronological biography of Four Hongs,adding the errors in the notes and correction of the spectrum and adopting it by Hong Rukui.The study of Liu Yusong’s chronology is not only of great significance to the analysis of his academic achievements and characteristics,but also of great benefit to the sorting out of the "four Hongs" in Song Dynasty,i.e.Honghao,Hongshi,Hongzun and Hongmai,and to the summary of Wang Fuzhi,Qian Daxin and Zeng Guofan’s studies in Qing Dynasty.
