Bian Gong(1476-1532),also named Tingshi, Huaquan, was born in Licheng County, Shandong Province. In the ninth year of Hongzhi Emperor(1496), he obtained the title of Jinshi, and resigned from the government post of Nanjing Hubu Shangshu when he was 57 years old. Bian Gong, together with Li Mengyang, He Jingming, Xu Zhenqing, Kang Hai, Wang Jiusi, Wang Tingxiang, was called the Former Seven Masters. He also was one of the Four Gifted Poetes in Hongzheng period.This paper is focused on his whole life,including his official career, cercle of acquaintances and the writing time of his works. The collected information is rich, specific and try to use the fist-hand collections.
