A Study On Liu Wendian's Chronological Biography Of Du Fu

Liu Wendian is a famous modern scholar from Hefei,Anhui Province.His Chronological biography of Du Fu is one of the most important achievements of the study of Du Fu and Du Fu's poetry in the 1950s.This book is on the basis of previous researches and is of innovation as well.While the attention paid to his Chronological biography of Du Fu has been weak and limited so far.Therefore,the present study aims to analyse the contents and features of the book and particularly explores its academic significance.Totally,the thesis consists of four sections.The preface briefly introduces the research aims and significances.Then the research status of Liu's Chronological biography of Du Fu home and abroad is described.Lastly,it probes into all the previous Chronological biographies of Du Fu and generalize its research situation in order to be clear about the writing context of the previous Chronological biographies of Du Fu.Chapter One mainly introduces the basic information of Liu Wendian and Chronological biography of Du Fu.Firstly,it introduces the overall situation about Liu Wendian's life story and writing information and discusses his great achievements on different fields such as literature and history.In addition,it states the writing process of Chronological biography of Du Fu from the point of the historical background and Liu's academic pursuing.Chapter Two probes into the contents,styles and features of Liu's Chronological biography of Du Fu based on the text referring to former chronological biography of Du Fu.In the first place,LAu's Chronological biography of Du Fu is analyzed and its layout and styles are discussed.Furthermore,it combs the content of Liu's Chronological biography of Du Fu and generalizes its basic features by describing Du's story,commenting on the poems,quoting the former examples and introducing Du's experiences and related people.Finally,it discusses the features of Liu's Chronological biography of Du Fu.Firstly,it gives lots of examples to present Du's living background completely.Secondly,Liu's work has detailed contents.It pays attention to the explanation and demonstration about the materials.Thirdly,it lays importance on the relationship between history and poetry so as to deeply investigate the inherent meaning of Du fu's poetry.Chapter Three analyses the significance and limitations.On the one hand,the thesis investigates the great significance of Liu's Chronological biography of Du Fu.More specifically,in the first place,it builds the research system of the combination of history and literature.What's more,it is written with the combination of biography and story.Additionally,it brings the new research perspective.On the other hand,it presents the limitations of Liu's Chronological biography of Du Fu according to its contents,statements and correction.Firstly,it exists contents deficiency.And the demonstration is not so sufficient.Lastly,there exist some careless omission in the correction.
