Tsinghua Literature Society And The May Fourth New Poetry

The Tsinghua Literature Society was the first purely literary student association in the early Tsinghua School and has always been regarded as the "cradle of writers." Under the influence of the early vernacular new poetry,Tsinghua Literature Society has emerged a number of excellent vernacular poets,such as Wen Yiduo,Liang Shiqiu,Zhu Xiang and Sun Dayu.Although the previous research has done a simple combing of the Tsinghua Literary Society and its poets,it ignores the influence of the association itself on the poets in it,especially in the poetic theory and the poetry creation.At the same time,Tsinghua School’s strict academic training,strong campus atmosphere and good interaction between teachers and students had also affected their exploration of the new poetry and the development of the community.This article takes Tsinghua Literature Society as the starting point.Through combing the historical data,it selects the poetry texts published by Tsinghua Literature Society poets during Tsinghua University and their poetry theories as the research object,trying to clarify the inner relationship between Tsinghua Literature Society and the May Fourth New Poetry.And through the analysis of the poetry activities of the Tsinghua Literature Society and the theoretical exploration of the poets,reveals the formation process of the metrical thought of the poet’s new poetry and the historical contribution of the Tsinghua Literature Society to the vernacular new poetry,in order to enrich and deepen the study of the Chinese modern literary society.Under this premise,this article first focuses on combing the overall appearance of Tsinghua Literary Society.First,starting from the background of the establishment of Tsinghua Literature Society,it discusses the conditions for the integration of poets in Tsinghua Literature Society,and think that the campus culture,school education and the common interests of members of the community have contributed to the convergence of the poetry group of Tsinghua Literature Society.The second is to start from the organizational structure,personnel changes and teacher-student exchanges of Tsinghua Literature Society,and explore the internal operating mechanism and the interaction mode of Tsinghua Literature Society.Secondly,the article focuses on the poetry activities of Tsinghua Literature Society,and analyzes the editing and publishing activities and poetry gathering activities of Tsinghua Literature Society.And I also believe that the publication of "Tsinghua Literature Society Series" and the poetry creation of Tsinghua Literature Society with the help of publications such as Tsinghua Weekly had improved the popularity of the society of Tsinghua Literature Society and laid a solid foundation for the future literary career of the poets of Tsinghua Literature Society.The lectures,reading clubs and poetry readings organized by the association not only inspired the poet’s thinking on the metrical thought of the poet’s new poetry,but also influenced the poet’s future poetry creation concept and creative direction.Finally,the article discusses the poetry theory of the poets of Tsinghua Literature Society and its creative practice,and analyzes their pursuit of the artistic nature of poetry and the exploration of the new poetry form.First,starting from the criticism of the poetry of the Tsinghua Literature Society on the "natural syllable view" of the early vernacular new poetry,and I believed that they advocated the literary pursuit of "art for art" and advocated to observe the new poetry from the artistic point of view,and thereby correcting the problem of "non-poeticization" of new poetry.The second is to analyze the construction of the genre of new poetry by the Tsinghua Literature Society.And think that they have made a useful exploration of the form of poetry in the experiment of the genre of the poetry and the construction of lines of the poetry,and made their own creative understanding of the rhythm unit of the new poetry.
