Language is an instrument of communication while vocabulary is the cornerstone of language.Emerged from ancient myths and legends,fable stories,literary works,foreign cultures and oral-transmitting folk sayings,allusion has become a vital component of modern Chinese words and phrases.After entering the intermediate and advanced stage of Chinese learning,high-frequency idioms are easier exposed to international students,moreover,the new edition Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi(Referred to HSK)Level Six(6)now focuses on the ability how foreign students use idioms in dynamic context.Based on the principle of "Words shall be integrated into sentences" and combined with the importance of idiom in its analysis,HSK Test Level Six(6)not only examines international students’ comprehension of idioms’ meaning,but also tests the sentimental tone,applicable object and semantic importance of idioms in combination with context.Under such high standards and strict requirements,misuse of idioms by international students is all the more typical.Starting from the structure of the idiom itself and combining example sentences inaccurately analyzed by international students,the thesis analyzes and summarizes the causes of these inaccuracies to find the proper solution to sort idioms’misuse.This thesis is allotted altogether for five chapters.The first chapter is preface,which describes the background and purpose,introduces the research status and achievements of study on misuse of idioms in vocabulary for the past few years,and analyzes the defects and deficiencies in Chinese teaching practice.Secondly,it briefly describes the research methods and ideas of this paper,and defines the source of research corpus,subject and scope.In second chapter,it traces and briefly explains the source of idioms and main formation modes of joint-type idioms.In the meanwhile,it classifies the structure of idioms based on grammatical aspect,and describes the internal structure of idioms,including the combined structure and internal semantic relations of joint-type idioms.It classifies the idioms in the new edition HSK Test Level Six(6)into surface structure classification and internal semantic classification according to different composition methods.It deeply explores the form and semantic of the composition to provide a theoretical basis for summarizing the types inaccurately analyzed by international students.The third chapter mainly and systematically describes misunderstood example sentences of joint-type idioms and indicates a summery on these types.The fourth chapter summarizes the reasons whyinternational students are unable to comprehend idioms accurately based on the characteristics of idioms,cultural differences and learners themselves and concludes the causes of inaccuracies and then proposes a corresponding Chinese idiom teaching strategy.The last chapter is a conclusion,which concisely describes the research results of this paper and enumerates the innovations and improvements needed in the future research. |
