Translation Of Political Essays From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

As a critical step in the inter-cultural communication,translation of political essays is concerned with political ideology,attitudes,principles and policies of our country.Given its politically sensitive issue,translators should be more cautious in translation to avoid political misunderstandings and conflicts.However,there are few monographs on translation of political essays in domestic researches.Even though some well-known translators have covered it in their books,they only touched on some of its possibilities.Based on the Skopos Theory,the thesis adopts Hu Jintao’s report at 18th Party Congress and its translation from the Xinhua Net to discuss and analyze the translation strategies of political essays through document and logic method.Having fully understood and mastered the Skopos Theory,the author study the characteristics of political essays as well as analyze the main factors which influence the ways of political essays translation,finding out that the Skopos Theory plays an important role in translation of political essays.The author concludes that the main translation strategies of political essays consist of literal translation,deletion,interpretative translation and restructuring and rewriting.The thesis has beneficial complement in the translation of political essays.Meanwhile,it puts forward four suitable translation strategies which are practical and constructive.
