| ObjectiveExogenous fever refers to a series of diseases with fever as the main symptom. From ancient times to the present,TCM acupuncture and moxibustion have unique treatment experiences for fever, but this knowledge is scattered throughout different dynasties and different classical texts,so the theory could not organize into a system.Sorting and summarizing through traditional philosophy is of great significance to the understanding of fever in the systematic research of TCM acupuncture and moxibustion, which can expand the scope of acupuncture and moxibustion and provide ideas for the clinical aspect of acupuncture and moxibustion.MethodsIn this paper, the research methods of traditional philosophy have been used to systematically collect the information about exogenous fever used in the history of traditional Chinese medicine. The comprehensive analysis illustrates the academic development of exogenous fever in four different historical periods, namely the pre-Qin period, the Jin-Tang period, the Song and Jin-Yuan period, and the Ming-Qing dynasty period.Results(1)The pre-Qin and Han dynasties were the period when the theory of exogenous fever was established.During this period, the contents of exogenous fever in the "Yellow Emperor Internal Classic","The Difficult Book" and "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" laid the foundation for later generations of doctors to build from.(2)The Sui and Tang dynasties were a period of further enrichment of exogenous fever theory. At this time, the medical books on acupuncture and moxibustion on exogenous fever were further enriched and systematized.(3)The Song-Jin and Yuan periods were a period of revolution in the theory of exogenous fever. The acupuncture books published during this period focused on moxibustion and improved the theory of moxibustion to treat exogenous fever. The theory of moxibustion was continuously improved during the Song,Jin-Yuan periods, and rose to a new height, which formed the characteristics of this period and influenced later generations of physicians.(4)The Ming and Qing Dynasties were the period of inheritance and innovation of the theory of exogenous fever, and this period was the period of maturity of the "wen-bing"theory.Physicians in the Ming and Qing Dynasties inherited the thoughts of predecessors in the theory of exogenous fever and combined their own experience to update the ancient theory and use the ancient prescriptions.During this period, many unique experiences of single-point treatment of exogenous fever were developed, and treatment of exogenous fever were recorded into the case studies of acupuncture texts.ConclusionFrom the "Yellow Emperor Internal Classic" and the study of acupuncture texts by ancient physicians, the theory and treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion for exogenous fever during four historical development stages of the pre-Qin and the Han,Jin-Tang,SongJin-Yuan,Ming-Qing have experienced a process of continuous development.<Suwen·Relun>is the blueprint of exogenous fever theory, and the discussion on the treatment of exogenous fever by acupuncture and moxibustion is scattered throughout in the "Yellow Emperor Internal Classic".The "Yellow Emperor Internal Classic" has a wealth of treatment methods for exogenous fever, and has records of various acupuncture methods and moxibustion, with clear treatment principles and characteristics.Based on treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion for exogenous fever in the "Yellow Emperor Internal Classic",ancient physicians from various dynasties combined their own clinical experience and practice to gradually improve and expand the treatment methods for exogenous fever.Ancient literature texts have a large number of relevant records on acupuncture and moxibustion for exogenous fever. After systematically sorting out, there is a mature and complete theoretical system for acupuncture and moxibustion for fever, which is worthy of clinical practice and promotion. |
