Objective:(1)To test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Scale on COmmunity care PErceptions(SCOPE).(2)To investigate and analyse undergraduate nursing students’ perceptions of community care and its influencing factor, their placement preference and its determinants in the medical and health field,so as to provide basis for nursing educators to take effective measures to improve undergraduate nursing students’ perceptions of community care. Methods:This research is divided into two parts.(1)Test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of SCOPE:the Chinese version of SCOPE was formed according to the improved Brislin model.A questionnaire survey was conducted among undergraduate nursing students at a medical college in Shenyang. The item analysis method is used to screen the items of the scale;the internal consistency is used to evaluate the reliability of the scale;the content validity and the structure validity are used to evaluate the validity of the scale.(2)Application of the SCOPE:a self-designed general data questionnaire and the Chinese version of SCOPE were used to conduct a questionnaire survey among undergraduate nursing students in a nursing school in Shenyang.Mean, standard deviation, frequency and constituent ratio were used to describe the level of nursing students’ perceptions of community care, their preferences for placement choice and its determinants.Independent sample t test, analysis of variance and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of nursing students’ perceptions of community care.Results:(1)after the Chinese version, the Chinese version of SCOPE has 33 items, which consists of three subscales and 2 separate items. The cronbach’s α coefficients of the total scale and the three subscales are 0.926,0.959,0.903 and 0.897 respectively; the average content validity index of the overall scale is 0.939;through exploratory factor analysis,5 common factors with characteristic root value >1 are extracted from the three subscales, and the cumulative variance contribution rate of the three scales is more than60%.(2)The perceptions of undergraduate nursing students to community care were in the middle level, and the average scores of the three subscales were(6.72±1.8)points,(6.32±1.8)points and(6.77±1.4)points respectively;the preference for placement selection is 73.32% for general hospitals, whose determinants are mainly the required nursing skills, the relationship with patients and personal responsibility, etc. The results of single factor analysis and multivariate linear regression analysis showed that age, grade, placement, ability to be competent for community nursing work, the opinions on the development status and future prospects of community nursing work in China were related factors influencing the perception of community care among undergraduate nursing students.Six factors could explain 44.0% of the difference in community care perception level of undergraduate nursing students.Conclusion:(1)the Chinese version of SCOPE was applied to the undergraduate nursing students in a nursing college in Shenyang City. The results showed that the scale has good reliability and validity. It shows that the Chinese version of SCOPE can be used to investigate the perceptions and placemente preferences of the undergraduate nursing students, and also can be used as a tool to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum,to provide the basis for the nursing educators to carry out targeted research community nursing professional education.(2)The perceptions of community care among undergraduate nursing students is in the middle level, which needs to be improved and improved. Most of them tend to choose to practice in general hospital. The views of age, grade, placement, competence in community nursing work, and the view on the current situation and future prospects of community nursing work are the influencing factors of the community care perception level of undergraduate nursing students. |
