| Research purpose: The purpose of this study was to further understand the status of arterial stiffness in autistic Spectrum Disorder(ASD)patients, and to observe the differences in arterial stiffness between ASD patients with and without long-term exercise and the general population without long-term exercise. To investigate the effect of long-term running on arterial stiffness in ASD patients. To provide scientific basis for future cardiovascular disease risk research in ASD population.Research method: In this study,a total of 32 autistic patients and 19 healthy individuals(males, aged 15~33 years)were recruited from society. The experimental groups included long-term running ASD group(AE group,20 persons),ASD group without long-term exercise(AC group,12 persons)and normal control group without long-term exercise(PC group,19 persons).ASD patients and ordinary subjects were interviewed by standardized general information questionnaire and international physical activity questionnaire. All subjects were evaluated by height measurement, body composition analysis, blood pressure pulse wave test and pulse wave conduction velocity test. The primary indicators included cervical femoral pulse wave velocity(cf PWV)and Brachial ankle pulse wave velocity(ba PWV).Secondary indicators included brachio-ankle index and central arterial pressure.Basic indicators included body mass index(BMI),physical activity(PA)level.SPSS 19.0 software was used for statistical analysis of all the results. The differences of each indicator were compared by covariance analysis, independent sample ANOVA,non-parametric Kruskai-Wallis H(K)method,post-hoc minimum significant difference test and independent sample rank sum test.Research results: There was a statistical difference in cf PWV among the three groups(P < 0.001).There was a statistical difference in cf PWV between AE group and AC group, and the cf PWV in AE group was significantly decreased compared with AC group(P < 0.001).There was also a statistical difference in cf PWV between AE group and PC group, and the cf PWV in AC group was significantly higher than that in PC group(P < 0.001).The results of physical activity showed that there was a statistical difference in working PA between the AE group and the PC group, and the working PA of the AE group was significantly higher than that of the PC group(P=0.035).There was a statistical difference in household PA between AE group and PC group, and the household PA in AE group and PC group was higher(P=0.014).There was a statistical difference in leisure PA among the three groups. The leisure PA in AE group was significantly higher than that in AC group(P=0.003)and PC group(P < 0.001).There was a statistical difference in total PA among the three groups. The total PA of AE group was significantly higher than that of AC group(P < 0.001)and PC group(P < 0.001).Research conclusion: People with ASD who was not physically active have higher central artery stiffness than the general population who was not physically active, and in the ASD population, the ASD population may be at greater risk for cardiovascular disease. However, the central artery stiffness of ASD patients with longterm running is lower than that of ASD patients without long-term exercise.Long-term running as an aerobic exercise may be beneficial to the improvement of central artery stiffness of ASD patients, which needs to be further confirmed by more studies. |
