Euphorbia helioscopia L.is a plant of Euphorbia in Euphorbiaceae, also known as cat’s eye grass, five clouds in folk, its dried parts of the ground can be used as medicine, generally growing in the wilderness, the edge of the field and the bank of the river where the sun is abundant, distributed in all regions except Xinjiang and Tibet.Euphorbia helioscopia is usually collected in spring and autumn,it can be used as medicine after drying.Euphorbia helioscopia can be decocted and used for a small amount of external use,it is commonly used in the treatment of edema, tuberculosis, phlegm, asthma, cough and ringworm in China, and has certain medicinal value.Pharmacology research reports show that the Euphorbia helioscopia has certain effects in anti-tumor,anti-inflammatory,antihypertensive,antitussive and antiasthmatic, bacteriostatic and insecticidal.Up to now, more than 150 chemical components with the structure characteristics of terpenoids, flavonoids and polyphenols have been found from Euphorbia helioscopia. In order to further explore the chemical resources of Euphorbia helioscopia,we have made a systematic phytochemical investigation on its 70% ethanol extract by the separation and purification method such as silica gel column chromatography, gel Sephadex LH-20 and semi-preparation HPLC in this paper, and 25 chemical components were extracted and separated from it,including 8 terpenoids namely as euphoscopin B(2),euphoscopin F(4),euphoscopin C(5),nepehinol(6),helioscopinolide A(11),euphoheliosnoid A(13),3-O-β-D-glucopyranosylheliosc-opinolide A(21),euphorbin(22);4 alkaloids namely as antiquorin(8),1H-indole-3-carboxaldehyde(9),3-(hydroxyacetyl)indole(18),aurantimide(19);3 flavonoids namely as 4’,5,7-trihydroxydihydroflavone(23),4’,5,7-trihydroxy isoflavones(24),quercetin(25)and 10 other components namely as β-sitosterol(1),4-hydroxyacetophenone(3),4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde(7),7-hydroxy-6-methoxycoumarin(10),isoaflatoxin(12),pinoresinol(14),(+)-dehydrovomifoliol(15),loliolide(16),1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-3-hydroxpropyl-1-one(17),rayalinol(20).Compound 10(7-hydroxy-6-methoxycoumarin),compound 18(3-(hydroxyacetyl)indole),compound 20(rayalinol),compound 21(3-O-β-D-glucopyranosylhelioscope-inolide A),compound 24(4’,5,7-trihydroxy isoflavones)were isolated from Euphorbia for the first time, compound 3(4-hydroxyacetophenone),compound 7(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde),compound 8(antiquorin),compound 9(1H-indole-3-carboxaldehyde),compound 15((+)-dehydrovomifoliol),compound 16(loliolide),compound 17(1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-3-hydroxypropyl-1-one),compound 19(aurantimide)were isolated from Euphorbia helioscopia for the first time.
