Study On "Resolving-Bind" Method And Its Clinical Application In Acupuncture

ObjectiveDiscuss the meaning,types,causes,common diseases and syndromes(symptoms),as well as diagnosis methods of "bind" in acupuncture method "bind-resolving",and the connotation,methods and clinical application of "bind-resolving" method in acupuncture and moxibustion,therefore provides reference for further exploring the theory of "resolving binds" in acupuncture,and enriches the clinical thinking of acupuncture.MethodsUsing scientific research methods such as collection and sorting method,comparative analysis method,summary and induction method,to search databases such as the Encyclopedia of Chinese Traditional Medicine and CNKI,therefore collect,compare analyze the contents of "bind-resolving" on the basis of ancient medical books and modern documents,in order to explore the understanding of "bind" in Chinese medicine,including its connotation,methods,applications in both ancient and modern times.Results1.The original meaning of "bind" is "to conclude".The types of pathological "bind"include intangible ones like "qi binds" and tangible ones,consist in "vessel binds" and "sinew binds",which can occur anywhere."Qi binds" is manifested as the changes caused by the stagnation of qi."Vessel binds" are the binds in the vessels,substantially arteries and veins,including the transverse collaterals,which can be shown as forceful with blood,collapse,or color change;and stagnant collaterals,which can be shown as stagnant points like a grain of the broomcorn millet,or hemorrhagic spots like red beans."Sinew binds" are manifested as changes caused by the aggregation of sinews attached to meridians,whose essence is mostly considered to be adhesions,scars,hypertrophic fascia,ligaments or subcutaneous fat.2.The causes of the "complex" of the disease include three aspects:external,internal,neither internal nor external.All the six-excess external contractions can cause "binds",especially wind,cold and dampness,pathogenic qi can further stay together with waterdampness and other tangible things.Among all internal damages due to seven emotions,excessive contemplation and stagnation of liver qi are mainly causes of "qi binds",which further can lead to the occurrence of vessel binds and sinew binds.Causes neither internal nor external include improper diet,excessive fatigue,fall and flutter injury,which can have mutual influence on meridians and meridians,and lead to the occurrence of binds.3.The syndromes(symptoms)arising from the pathological "bind" mainly include counterflow of qi,impediment,accumulation,and scrofula,goiter,stuffiness,abscess,pus,abdominal mass,sinew tumor,intestine tumor,chronic tumor,bone carbuncle,muscular carbuncle,etc.4.Diagnostic methods of pathological "binds" mainly include inspection,inquiry,pressing and palpating examination,and imaging examination of modern medicine.Inspection includes looking for forceful vessels,color change,sinew binds and so on;the focus of inquiry is to know the location of the disease,in order to make a quick diagnosis;pressing and palpating examination includes palpating the firmness or collapse of vessels,sinew binds,pressing masses,and taking pulse;imaging examinations include ultrasound testing,CT,MRI,etc.5.The original meaning of "bind-resolving" is to untie the knot."Bind-resolving" in acupuncture was first recorded in the "Huangdi’s Internal Classic".Other ancient medical books mostly transcribed the original text of the "Huangdi’s Internal Classic",few ancient physicians left comments,while modern physicians have further understanding on the basis of its original meaning in "Huangdi’s Internal Classic",especially in the "sinew bind".6.The methods of "bind-resolving" in acupuncture mainly include three categories:warming method,pricking to bleed,and piercing sinews.Warming method includes ironing method,moxibustion method,and burning method;pricking to bleed includes point-pricking method,collateral-pricking method,scatter-pricking method and pricking method;piercing sinews includes puncturing with heated needle for regulating sinews and vessels,filiform needling,acupotomy and acupuncture kinesitherapy,of which the filiform acupuncture methods include joint needling,straight and side needling,triple needling and central-square needling.7.In ancient times,"bind-resolving" is mainly used to treat syndromes(symptoms)such as counterflow of qi,impediment,accumulation;in modern times,different physicians have their own academic opinions,but generally used to treat syndromes(symptoms)include diseases of orthopedics and traumatology,pain and medical diseases.Conclusion1.The essence of the pathologic "bind" is that various pathogenic factors cause local qi and blood discord and stagnation.The principle of "bind-resolving" in acupuncture is to"disperse the obstructions".So it can be used to treat diseases caused by inharmony.stagnation,or accumulation of qi,blood and sinews.2.Pathological "binds" of different pathogenic causes and locations can lead to different syndromes(symptoms).Clinically,use different methods flexibly based on synthesis of the four diagnostics and pattern identification.3."Bind-resolving" is not only a method,but also a principle of treatment,the treatment of warming,pricking to bleed,and piercing sinews are all in order to "disperse the obstructions",which is the development of "the vessels must be removed prior in treatment".
