| Objective: To understand the current status of care burden,self-efficacy,and perceived benefits among caregivers of stroke patients;to clarify the relationship between care burden,self-efficacy,and perceived benefits among caregivers of stroke patients;to analyze the influencing factors of perceived benefits and to provide a reference for the precise intervention of perceived benefits at a later stage. Methods: This study is correlational in a non-experimental setting, facilitating the sampling of patients and their family members who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were admitted to the neurology and rehabilitation departments of a tertiary care hospital in Jilin Province from September to November 2020.A general current status questionnaire,Barthel Index(BI)scale,Zarit care burden Scale,General Self-Efficacy Scale, and Benefit Finding Scale were used to conduct the questionnaire, and SPSS 26.0 was used to analyze the data.Results:(1)The total care burden score for caregivers of stroke patients was(38.37±11.66).The two-dimensional score ranges were: personal burden(21.15±5.96)and burden of responsibility(9.73±3.94).There were significant differences(P < 0.05)between caregiver burden of care and patient age,self-care level, caregiver gender, relationship with the patient, caregiver education, per capita monthly household income, time spent caring for the patient per day, whether someone else was caring for the patient, and self-perceived health status.(2)The total self-efficacy score of caregivers of stroke patients was(26.00±5.27).There were significant differences in caregiver self-efficacy concerning the age of the caregiver, gender of the caregiver, relationship with the patient, education of the caregiver, occupation of the caregiver, per capita monthly household income, time spent caring for the patient per day,and perceived health status(P < 0.05).(3)The total perceived benefit score of caregivers of stroke patients was(47.15±8.54).There were significant differences(P < 0.05)in the perceived benefits of caregivers about self-care level, relationship with the patient, caregiver’s education, relationship with the patient, caregiver’s occupation, per capita monthly household income, time spent caring for the patient per day,and perceived health status.(4)The care burden was negatively correlated with self-efficacy(r=-0.341,P<0.05);care burden was negatively correlated with perceived benefits(r=-0.346,P<0.05);self-efficacy was positively correlated with perceived benefits(r=0.401,P<0.05).(5)Multiple linear regressions of perceived benefits of stroke patients’ caregivers were calculated and ranked according to the β values of the following variables:per capita monthly household income,self-care level, time spent caring for patients per day,self-efficacy,perceived health status, and care burden.Conclusions:(1)The care burden of caregivers of stroke patients was at a mild level, and the levels of self-efficacy and perceived benefits were at a moderate level.(2)There was a correlation between care burden,self-efficacy,and perceived benefits among caregivers of stroke patients,i.e.the higher the care burden, the lower the self-efficacy,and the lower the perceived benefits.(3)Self-perceived health status, care burden,self-efficacy,daily caregiving time,self-care level, and monthly per capita household income were the main factors of perceived benefits among caregivers of stroke patients. |
