| PurposeTo investigate choroidal thickness(CT),choroidal lumen area(LA),stromal area(SA),total choroidal area(TCA)and choroidal vascular index(CVI)in children’s eyes with different refractive status with the use of optical coherence tomography(OCT)and Image J software.MethodsThis is a prospective study.Children with different refractive status were randomly divided into emmetropia group(+0.50~-0.50d);low myopia group(-0.75~-3.00d);moderate myopia group(-3.00~-6.00D);high myopia group(>-6.00D)according to spherical equivalent(SE).All the children were examined as follows:cycloplegic refraction, slit lamp examination, intraocular pressure examination(IOP),axial length(AL)was measured with IOL Master,Choroidal thickness(CT)was measured by SD-OCT(Optovue)’s enhanced HD line mode. The measurement points were at the subfoveal,1 mm nasally of the fovea and 1 mm temporally of the fovea,Choroidal thickness was defined as the vertical distance between the RPE layer and the choroscleral interface. The cross line mode of SD-OCT(Optovue)was used to measure choroidal blood flow.Image J software was used to further analyze the OCT images of cross line mode, and then calculate LA,SA,TCA and CVI within 1 mm radius of fovea. Finally,SPSS statistical software was used to analyze the changes of CT,AL,LA,SA and CVI under different refractive status.ResultsA total of 63 children(114 eyes)with different refractive status were included in this study.AL increased with the increase of myopia degree. The choroidal thickness of subfoveal,1 mm nasally of fovea and 1 mm temporally of fovea became thinner with the increase of myopia degree,The choroid was thinner nasally compared to temporally and subfoveal(P<0.05),and was thickest temporally, but there was no statistical difference between subfoveal and temporal location(P>0.05).Mean CVI increased with the increase of myopia degree.Spearman linear correlation analysis showed that mean CVI was negatively correlated with SFCT,LA,SA and TCA,and the correlation coefficients were-0.531,-0.256,-0.330,-0.294(P<0.05)respectively.Multiple regression analysis revealed that LA and SA were positively correlated with SFCT(standardized coefficient=0.295、0.251 respectivily,P<0.05),and negatively correlated with SE(standardized coefficient=-0.399、-0.402 respectivily,P<0.05),Both of them had no correlation with AL.Mean CVI was only negatively correlated with SFCT(standardized coefficient=-0.550,P<0.05),but had no correlation with SE and AL.ConclusionIn children’s eyes, with the increase of myopia degree,AL became longer,CT、LA、SA、TCA decreased, and CVI increased. |
