| ObjectiveTo explore the effect of herbal extract HeWeiZhiOu combined with Platinum-based doublet chemotherapy on the quality of life of patients with advanced cancer,and to observe the efficacy of herbal extract HeWeiZhiOu for the clinical application.MethodsIn this study,patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into treatment group and control group according to the actual treatment mode by prospective cohort study,with 40 patients in each group.The treatment group was treated with platinum-based doublet chemotherapy.The patients was given to the tropoxane injection 30 minutes before the chemotherapy,and given to take herbal extract HeWeiZhiOu.The control group received platinum-based doublet chemotherapy,and the tropoxane injection was administered 30 minutes before the chemotherapy.21days is a course of treatment and 2 courses of treatment are observed.The quality of life(scored by EORTC QLQ-C30),clinical symptoms,weight and medication safety before and after study were compared between the two groups.Results1.Quality of life:1)Total score:Before treatment,there was no significant difference in the total scores of quality of life between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,the total scores of quality of life scales of the two groups were significantly difference(P<0.05).Also before and after treatment the total score difference between the two groups were significant differences.Moreover,there were significant difference in the treatment group between prior to and after the study.In contrast,there was no significant difference in the control group(P>0.05).2)Each part:Before treatment,there ware no significant differences in scores of symptom area,physical function,role function,cognitive function,emotional function,social function and economic function between the two groups(P>0.05).In the symptoms field,there were significant differences between two groups after treatment,before and after treatment the score difference between the two groups,and by self-comparison in the treatment group prior to and after the experiment(P<0.05).By contrast,there was no statistical difference by self-comparison in the control group in the symptoms field before and after experiment(P>0.05);After treatment,the physical function of the patients in the treatment group was significantly different from that in the control group(P<0.05).There was also a significant difference in the field before and after study in the treatment group by self-comparison(P<0.05).In contrast,there was no statistical difference in the control group by self-comparison(P>0.05).However,before and after treatment the score difference between the two groups was no significant difference(P>0.05).Finally,There were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of role function,cognitive function,emotional function,social function and economic function which the scale of quality of life is composed of both before and after treatment(P>0.05).2.Clinical symptoms:Taking the herbal extract HeWeiZhiOu has an advantage in relieving the appetite,nausea and vomiting.The odds ratio of improving appetite was 3.051,the 95%confidence interval was[1.032,9.022],P=0.037,which was a statistical difference(P<0.05).The odds ratio for the improvement of nausea and vomiting symptoms was 3.370,95%confidence interval was[1.070,10.613],which means that there was statistical difference(P<0.05).3.Weight:There was no significant difference in body weight between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).4.Safety evaluation:All patients who received the treatment with herbal extract HeWeiZhiOu did not have allergies,intolerance,disease progression,etc.And no related liver and kidney dysfunction and other adverse events were observed in patients taking herbal extract HeWeiZhiOu.ConclusionHerbal extract HeWeiZhiOu combined with platinum-based doublet chemotherapy to improve the quality of life of patients with advanced cancer,mainly to relieve the clinical symptoms and improve body function.To prevent and treat the adverse reactions after platinum-based doublet chemotherapy a certain extent,such as appetite,nausea and vomiting.It is safe and worthy of clinical application. |
