| Objective: To develop Cancer patient Suicide Risk Assessment Scale(CSRS)and examine its reliability and validity, providing a measurement tool for the evaluation of cancer patients’ suicide in China. Methods:firstly, construct a theoretical dimension based on the literature reviews、expert interview and the half open-ended and half close-ended inventory survey.secondly, develop the items of scale initially Combined with previous research results and experts’ opinions, then screen it repeatedly by pre-survey,content validity analysis and item analysis.after that, the scale been tested in 355 cancer inpatients of Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University and Affiliated Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine of Southwest Medical University from August2017 to October by convenience sampling.in the end,all data been analyzed by SPSS22.0,Exploratory factor analysis,Cronbach’s α coefficient and correlation analysis been used to examine the reliability and validity of the scale,The independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA been used to explore the difference of the scores of different characteristics of cancer Patients. Results:The correlation coefficient between each item and its dimension was between 0.282~0.831,and the item 18(r=0.282)was deleted in the pre-suvey.The content validity analysis showed that the CVI of the CSRS was 0.919,and the CVI of each item was between 0.44~1.After a random consistency correction, item 1(I-CVI=0.44)and item 27(I-CVI=0.67)were deleted. The item analysis showed that the variation coefficient of items were greater than 15%,and the score of the high score group was significantly higher than that of the low score group(P< 0.001),then the correlation coefficient between each item and its dimension was between 0.370~0.737,the correlation coefficient between each dimension and scale was between 0.644~0.924,and the difference were statistically significant(P<0.001),the correlation coefficient between each item and scale was between 0.218~0.710,items 4(r=0.250),item 8(r=0.257)and item 11(r=0.218)were deleted.4 factors which named "negative emotion" 、 "suicide attitude" 、 "suicide preparation" and "suicide motivation" including 19 items were extracted in the exploratory factor analysis, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 54.796%.The criterion-related validity analysis showed that the correlation coefficient between CSRS and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)was 0.708,and the correlation coefficient between each factor of CSRS and SDS was between0.329~0.660,and the difference was statistically significant(P< 0.001).The reliability analysis showed that the Cronbach’s α coefficient of the scale was0.876,the split-half reliability was 0.874,and the Cronbach’s α coefficient of each factor was between 0.635~0.865.The average score was 33.01±14.276,the highest score was 70,the lowest score was 5,the risk of suicide in cancer patients was significantly different in sex, age, residence, education level, occupation, family economic status, most significant disease symptoms, family understanding and cooperation, payment for disease treatment(P < 0.05).The total score of the scale was positively correlated with the gender, residence, family economic status, disease symptoms and the way of payment for disease treatment, and negatively correlated with the education level, occupation and family understanding and cooperation. Conclusion: The Cancer patient Suicide Risk Assessment Scale is basically consistent with the theoretical assumption and has good reliability and validity. The risk of suicide is higher in cancer patients with female sex, middle and old age, lower education, severe disease symptom especially cancer pain, inadequate social support and poor family economic conditions in rural areas, which need to be paid more attention and given more warm help by the families, the health care provider and the people of the society. |
