Reliability And Validity Of The Retranslated China Version Of Nurses' Global Assessment Of Suicide Risk Scale

ObjectiveTo retranslate the Nurses' Global Assessment of Suicide Risk scale(NGASR)into Chinese.209 psychiatric inpatients who was acute episode of the new inpatients,then to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of NGASR.Examining whether it is suitable for clinical nurses to assess suicide risk of mental illness patients,and to standardize suicide risk assessment tools for psychiatric patients.MethodsStandard forward-back translation techniques and Chinese cultural adaptation were used in the translation of the NGASR according to the Brislin translation model and then Chinese cultural adapted after obtaining the authorship of the original author.Chinese version was finally determined by the research Group.The reliability and validity of Chinese version of NGASR were tested in 209 psychiatric inpatients who were admitted into hospital in two days of a mental health center in Shandong from April 2017 to August,They were selected as the research subjects.Among 209 patients making use of concurrent instrument,Chinese version of NGASR,the Beck despair scale(BHS)and the Chinese version of the Beck suicide ideation scale(BSI-CV),test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of NGASR.SPSS21.0 software was used for statistical analysis,the reliability was tested by the reliability of the internal consistency reliability K-R coefficient and the inter surveyor's reliability.Validity chooses face validity,structure validity,content validity and correction the associated test validity.Among them,the correlation validity of calibration was selected as the Beck despair scale(BHS)and the Chinese version of the Beck suicide ideation scale(BSI-CV).Results1.The scale of the translation.Translation to Chinese version NGASR reached after the adjustment and correction of speech in both English and Chinese semantic equivalence,conforms to the Chinese language habits.2.Reliability.The K-R coefficient is used to evaluate the internal consistency of NGASR.The internal consistency reliability is 0.878 which was showed by KR20,and the internal consistency is good.In this study,two participants were measured in the NGASR.The Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.90(P<0.001)which was represented the intraobserver reliability.3.Validity.The analysis of the result showed that the content validity index(I-CVI)value of the NGASR is 0.714?1.00,and the content validity index(S-CVI/UA)of the scale is 0.88.After the preliminary investigation and the test of the surface validity of the NGASR indicating that the scale is simple and easy to understand and applied to clinical nursing.In particular,new recruits are used by nurses especial who lack of clinical experience.The principal components analysis is used in exploratory factor analysis.The results showed that five factors are abstracted by exploratory factor analysis,which can explain 57%of the total variance.The maximum variance orthogonal rotation method is used to get the factor load after the orthogonal rotation of the maximum variance in the scale.It can be seen that each index has a higher load value in one dimension,which is 0.460 to 0.795,which is higher than the minimum standard of the structure validity test which is 0.4.The NGASR index has good criterion validity,showing strong correlation with BSS and BSI-CV.The Pearson correlation coefficient with BSS and BSI-CV are 0.50 and 0.371(P<0.001).ConclusionThe China version of NGASR demonstrates good reliability and content validity,which can be used to assess suicide inpatients with psychiatric in China.
