Previous sleep statistics show that sleep problems are more prominent in young people and have a tendency to become progressively more severe. What factors are affecting the quality of sleep in young people and what are the mechanisms by which these factors affect sleep? Exploration of these questions can help young people to adjust themselves and improve the quality of sleep, thus promoting physical and mental health and progress in life. This study takes young people as the research object, and explores the effects of perfectionism,self-control and procrastination on individual sleep quality and their inherent mechanisms of action from the perspectives of personality traits and behavioral habits to provide theoretical support to help improve sleep quality.A questionnaire survey was conducted by randomly selecting 621 young people in Henan,Anhui and Shanxi, and 556 valid questionnaires were collected." Chinese version of the Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Questionnaire(FMPS)and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)were used. The methods of analysis were: independent sample t-test,correlation analysis, regression analysis, and mediation analysis. The results of the study showed that:Gender differences in the dimensions of personal standards, adaptive perfectionism, and daytime dysfunction were significant for youth, with female youth having lower levels of personal standards and lower levels of daytime dysfunction than male youth and higher levels of adaptive perfectionism than male youth.Non-adaptive perfectionism, general procrastination, and self-control have positive predictive effects on sleep quality index;adaptive perfectionism has negative predictive effects on sleep quality index.Self-control partially mediates between perfectionism and the Sleep Quality Index;general procrastination partially mediates between perfectionism and the Sleep Quality Index.
