A Social Support Study Of COVID-19 Rehabilitation Patients

Novel Coronavirus has infected more than 100 million people since December2019,and the number of infections is expected to grow in the coming years.The number of patients recovering from COVID-19 is increasing,and how they will return to society after being cured has gradually become a concern for us.In addition to their physical health,they also experience many psychological problems,and may even suffer from discrimination and prejudice,but these are rarely noticed and their normal needs are not paid attention to.To understand the needs of COVID-19 rehabilitation patients and help them solve the problem of returning to society after cure,so that all aspects of the society can pay common attention to this group of COVID-19 rehabilitation patients.It is an important task in the post-epidemic era to improve the public’s correct understanding of COVID-19 through various ways and improve the social support level for patients recovering from COVID-19.Taking A Community in Wuhan City as an example,this paper conducted in-depth interviews with 30 COVID-19 rehabilitation patients living in this community as an intern social worker in the summer of 2020,and at the same time conducted in-depth interviews with 15 community workers and residents who were not infected with COVID-19 in this community.On the basis of the analysis and sorting of the interview data,the problems,needs and social support status of COVID-19 rehabilitation patients were understood.The problems COVID-19 rehabilitated patients face mainly include physical health damage,multiple psychological pressures,and social exclusion.The main reasons for social exclusion are the lack of scientific knowledge,panic,low social participation,and the decline of trust.The needs of COVID-19 rehabilitation patients include strengthening post-recovery rehabilitation,relieving psychological pressure and enriching social interaction.COVID-19 rehabilitation patients mainly rely on informal social support based on family,while the utilization rate of formal social support is low and the strength is weak.Further analysis showed that officially support problems including the lack of COVID-19 of special supporting policies,community rehabilitation in patients with rehabilitation professional ability and insufficient resources,media and network of exaggeration and inaccurate reports,informal support issues,including the public awareness of the disease and resistance,COVID-19 patients with rehabilitation awareness is not high.Finally,it points out how to improve the social support for patients with COVID-19 rehabilitation.In terms of formal social support,the government should strengthen the role of formal social support,make full use of the community platform,create a community rehabilitation environment,play the role of media publicity,and strengthen the publicity and popularization of scientific knowledge.In terms of informal social support,the role of family-oriented informal social support should be strengthened,the role of neighborhood support should be strengthened,the professional advantages of social work should be brought into play,and the resources of public welfare and charity should be explored and connected.Help COVID-19 rehabilitation patients out of the predicament,promote social harmony and stability.
