BackgroundIt is the trend and core of nursing discipline development to carry out high-quality evidence-based practice education and training and cultivate high-quality evidencebased practice nursing talents.Although evidence-based practice has been included as a routine course in medical education in many medical colleges and universities, the existing training content and quality of evidence-based practice are uneven. There is a lack of clear expectations and standards for the competencies of clinical nurses to implement evidence-based practice, and there is a lack of competence-oriented,scientific,and systematic education and training system.ObjectiveTo construct a set of evidence-based practice competencies and the training system of evidence-based practice of clinical nurses, which can provide references for the cultivation, assessment, and evaluation of clinical nurses’ evidence-based practice ability.Methods1.Literature analysis:A systematic literature search was performed to analyze the research situation of evidence-based practice competence and its education and training at home and abroad, which can provide the theoretical basis for the preliminary construction of the competencies and training system of evidence-based practice for clinical nurses.2.Qualitative method:The phenomenological research method of qualitative research was used in the study.Semi-structured interviews with clinical nurses who had participated in evidence-based practice training were conducted to deeply understand the feelings and needs of clinical nurses on evidence-based practice training, which can provide references for the construction of evidence-based practice training system for clinical nurses.3.Modified Delphi technique:The experts in the field of evidence-based practice, nursing education, and clinical nursing were invited to rate the importance of each item and provide qualitative comments on their ratings. After two rounds of expert consultation,a set of evidence-based practice competencies and the evidence-based practice training system of clinical nurses were formed.Results1.Construction of evidence-based practice competencies for clinical nurses:The response rates of the first round and the second round in this study were 90%and 88.89%respectively,and the authority coefficients were 0.90 and 0.89 respectively. The Kendall coefficient was 0.110-0.212(P<0.05).After two rounds of expert consultation, all items achieved consensus based on the predefined criteria.A list of EBP competencies including 34 items was established, which were grouped into seven domains:ask, acquire, critique, synthesize, apply, evaluate, and disseminate.2.Interview results on experience of clinical nurses in evidence-based practice training:Clinical nurses had strong enthusiasm to participate in evidence-based practice training. They said that the training can help them improve their knowledge and skills of evidence-based practice, change their thinking of clinical work, obtain the benefit of career development, and enhance their professional identity. But they also hoped that the evidence-based practice training should be further improved from the aspects of improving the training curriculum, increasing the diversity of training methods, and strengthening the training faculty.3.Construction of the evidence-based practice training system for clinical nurses:The response rates of the two rounds of the Delphi survey were 80%and 100%,respectively,and the authority coefficient of the expert panel was 0.93,and the Kendall coefficient was 0.125~0.369(P<0.05).The finally evidence-based practice training system includes 5 first-level indicators,23 second-level indicators, and 61 third-level indicators.ConclusionThe evidenced-based practice competencies and their training system for clinical nurses constructed in this study are scientific and reliable, which have reference value for improving the level of evidence-based practice of nurses and promoting the development of evidence-based practice education.
