ObjectiveCultivation of evidence-based practice(EBP)competence among nursing students has gradually become the focus of nursing education,but there is less related research about EBP competence measurement instruments of nursing students in China.This study aims to develop a reliable and valid instrument to measure the EBP competence of nursing students in China on the basis of the latest overseas research results.The instrument is used to measure the current situation of EBP competence of undergraduate nursing students in Shandong province,so as to provide an effective way to evaluate undergraduate nursing students' EBP competence and lay the foundation for the cultivation of their EBP competence.And the instrument is also preliminarily applied to measure the teaching effect of the existing teaching plan of Evidence-based Nursing related courses among nursing postgraduates,and to measure the teaching effect of the teaching reform plan of the course.Methods1.Literature research and theory research was used to fully understand the research progress about EBP competence measurement instruments among nurses and nursing students.Analyze and compare relevant measurement instruments to determine the research instrument.2.Introduce the Evidence-based Practice Competence Questionnaire(EBP-COQ)to China through the “translation-back translation-cultural adjustment-preliminary test” model after we got the authorization of professor Maria Ruzafa-Martinez.And assess the reliability and validity of the instrument strictly by item analysis,exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis.3.The Chinese version of EBP-COQ was used to investigate and describe the state of the 736 undergraduate nursing students' EBP competence in four medical colleges in Shandong province,and to analyze the influencing factors.4.The Chinese version of EBP-COQ was used to measure the teaching effect of the existing teaching plan of Evidence-based Nursing related courses among nursing postgraduates.Design teaching reform plan(intensive training of Evidence-based Nursing practice was added to the plan)of the Evidence-based Nursing related courses among nursing postgraduates on the basis of the existing teaching plan of the courses according to the survey result,combined with the cross-sectional study result in the previous stage,and literature research and theoretical study.The Chinese version of EBP-COQ was used to measure the teaching effect of the teaching reform plan of the course.Results1.Formed the Chinese version of the Evidence-based Practice Competence Questionnaire for nursing students.The scale consists of three dimensions: EBP attitude(12 items),EBP skills(6 items)and EBP knowledge(6 items),24 items.The scale's internal consistency reliability(Cronbach's ? coefficient)was 0.889,the scale's retest reliability was 0.941,all items' content validity index(I-CVI)were greater than 0.8,the scale's content validity index(S-CVI/Ave)was 0.95,and the scale's criterion validity was 0.762.2.Undergraduate nursing students' average score of EBP competence was 83.16 ± 10.684(the total score was 120 points),the average score of EBP attitude was 45.62 ± 4.046(the total score was 30 points),the average score of EBP skills was 19.40 ± 3.393(the total score was 30 points),and the average score of EBP knowledge was 18.14 ± 3.499(the total score was 30 points)in Shandong province.Unvaried analysis results showed that different education backgrounds,EBP education status,Nursing Research course learning status,and nursing research experiences of nursing students had a statistically significant difference between the various dimensions of the EBP-COQ.The learning status of Literature Retrieval course had a statistically significant difference in EBP skills,EBP knowledge and total points of the questionnaire,but had no statistically significant difference in EBP attitude.3.After the existing teaching plan of the Evidence-based Nursing related courses,nursing postgraduates had significantly higher score on EBP attitude,skills,knowledge and total score than before the start of the courses(P<0.05).After the teaching reform plan of the Evidence-based Nursing related courses,nursing postgraduates had significantly higher EBP skills score and total score than that after the existing teaching plan of the courses(P<0.05).Conclusion1.The Chinese version of EBP-COQ has good reliability and validity.It can be used as the EBP competence measurement instrument for nursing students and is suitable for the usage in nursing teaching in China.2.Undergraduate nursing students' EBP competence is in the medium level as a whole,EBP attitude is positive,EBP skills and EBP knowledge are in a relatively low level.The cultivation of EBP competence should be paid attention to during the stage of undergraduate education,especially the cultivation of EBP attitude and skills.The major influencing factors of nursing students' EBP competence are the education backgrounds,Literature Retrieval course learning status,EBP education status,Nursing Research course learning status,and nursing research experiences.3.The existing teaching plan of the Evidence-based Nursing related courses is beneficial to improve nursing postgraduates' EBP attitude,skills and knowledge.The teaching reform plan of the Evidence-based Nursing related courses is beneficial to improve their EBP skills compared with the existing teaching plan.
