The establishment and improvement of a multi-level medical security system including public medical insurance and private health insurance is a development plan that affects people’s livelihood.Pubic medical insurance covers a wide range, but the protection is insufficient.Although private health insurance has great potential,it is still in the initial stage. In recent years, with the improvement of residents’ living standards and health and health costs, residents’ health awareness has been generally awakened, meanwhile the demand for medical insurance has greatly increased. The private health insurance market has become hot with the dual support of government support and residents’ promotion.Based on the theory of public goods and private goods,squeeze-in and squeeze-out theory, this paper analyzes the impact of public medical insurance on private health insurance from a national and subregional perspective using static panel models and spatial measurement models.Based on this, suggestions for mutual promotion, integration and coordinated development of public medical insurance and private health insurance are proposed. The first chapter first reveals the research background and significance, and summarizes the research results of domestic and foreign experts and scholars on the impact of public medical insurance, private health insurance, and the impact of public medical insurance on private health insurance. The second chapter defines the concepts of public medical insurance and private health insurance, and introduces the theoretical basis of the impact of public medical insurance on private health insurance. The third chapter sorts out the overall and regional development of public medical insurance and private health insurance in China, and analyzes the differences and connections between regions.Chapter four selects panel data from 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China(except Tibet)from 2007 to 2017 for static panel model analysis and spatial panel model analysis. The fifth chapter provides guidance suggestions for the development of public medical insurance and private health insurance in China based on theoretical and empirical research results. This article mainly draws the following conclusions and recommendations: Considering the spatial factors, the density of public medical insurance and private health insurance in China has significant spillovers in space, and the regional development varies greatly.Overall,China’s public medical insurance has promoted the development of private health insurance. However, the regional results show that there is a significant “U” relationship between the eastern and western regions of China. As the scale of public medical insurance continues to expand, the impact of public medical insurance on private health insurance is first suppressed and then promoted.Central area is not significant.Based on the empirical results, corresponding policy recommendations are given, including insurance companies to enhance the differences between private health insurance products and public medical insurance,to segment the market with technological innovation, and to change the traditional operating model;it is recommended that the government draw a line between the government and the market, coordination the development of interregional private health insurance and the establishment of regional institutionalized public medical cooperation.
