Yantai City is an important maritime city, and the construction of marine ranching has played an increasingly prominent role in the ocean blueprint of China. With the decline of various fishery resources in the 21 st century, marine ranching,as a modern and suitable manufacture of marine fishery, has combined the advantages of marine fishing and mariculture, pointing out the development direction of modern marine fisheries around the world. However,Yantai City is one of the first pilot areas in our country, and the recent relevant theoretical research on the influencing factors of marine ranching is not systematic yet. This study analyzed the development situation of marine ranching at home and abroad through literature research and constructed a relatively complete theoretical framework of the influencing factors in marine ranching. The study also summarized the most effective influencing factors during the development of marine ranching through data analysis of the collected information, explored the major influencing factors of the marine ranching development in Yantai City and put forward a series of corresponding suggestions.Firstly, field interview method was used by interviewing several experts and employees in marine fishery with different occupations, ages, educational backgrounds, and incomes. The existing problems and current circumstances of marine ranching in Yantai City was discussed, recorded, and summarized.Issues were put forward in five dimensions, such as the enterprise construction concepts, supporting facilities and investment. To verify the relationship between the influencing factors and the development of marine ranching, domestic and foreign literatures collected according to the keywords mentioned by the interviewees were searched, consulted, and analyzed in terms of the theoretical basis and influencing factors.Services, environmental factors, policy, logistics services, sales model, urban supporting facilities, investment, breeding methods, reef and soil conditions and geographical parameters were raised as the hypothetical influencing factors in development of marine ranching.Secondly, the questionnaire survey was adopted by quantify the interviewees’ comments by setting five options from 1 to 5 to indicate different degrees. Then, descriptive statistical analysis by SPSS were conducted to obtain the correlation analysis results.Meantime,a regression model was established to test the research hypothesis.Through empirical analysis, eight influencing factors of marine ranching development were verified including services, environmental factors, policies, logistics services, urban supporting facilities, investment direction, breeding methods and geographical parameters of the marine ranching.According to the eight influencing factors of marine ranching mentioned above, the suggestions were summed up as adhering to green development, the government providing policies based on pasture needs, scientific development planning and enriching the developing means in the light of the needs of times. For marine ranching in Yantai City, four main suggestions were proposed, where the first was strengthening the awareness of environment protection and following the path of sustainable development. Then, fully research should be conducted by the government to obtain the latest information and to provide corresponding policy services for enterprises.Next, enterprises of marine ranching should provide correct decision-making for their development through scientific and rational planning. At last, marine ranching should keep abreast of the latest market demand and update the developing means in a timely manner. All the suggestions could promote the efficient development of marine ranching in Yantai City to become sustainable and ecological pastures.
