Abstract/Summary:
Goose is herbivorous poultry with low grain consumption.Goose meat has high nutritional value.Therefore,in recent years,with adjustment of the animal husbandry structure and change of meat consumption habits,the number of geese raised increasingly.The breeding methods of geese have changed from extensive feeding into intensive and large-scale feeding.However,high density breeding increased the risk of disease transmission.Parasites are animal parasites that parasitize animals,including trematodes,tapeworms,nematodes,acanthocephalans,protozoa and ectoparasites such as lice.There are many parasite species infected geese,and parasite infections in geese occure very common.The geese infected with parasites may not appear typical clinical symptoms,and cause a relatively low morbidity and mortality.But parasite infection can slow down the weight gain,hinder their growth and development,reduce the immunity,and affect the meat character and quality of geese.Severe infection can cause weight loss,anemia,and lower feed conversion rate of geese.Suzhou Wuzhong District is located on the coast of Taihu Lake,with many rivers and dotted water ponds.The local people have the habit of raising poultry,especially geese.At peak times,the whole district raised more than 1 million geese every year.Goose raising methods are keep on lake or river beach,which makes goose parasite infections more common.In order to understand the epidemic situation of goose parasite infection and control parasitic diseases in Wuzhong District of Suzhou City,we investigated the parasite species and infection rate of goose in Wuzhong District of Suzhou City,and conducted diagnosis and treatment of clinical cases of parasitic diseases.It aims to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control of parasitic diseases in Wuzhong area of the city.1.Investigation of intestinal parasite infection in geese in Wuzhong District of SuzhouEighty-five fecal samples were seventeen goose farms in Wuzhong District of Suzhou.The fecal samples were collected from different sites of the goose house,and the five samples were collected from each farms.The eggs and oocysts were detected by the method of saturated saline flotation.The oocysts were isolated according to the conventional method,and cultured for sporulation.The species of parasites were identified according to the morphology of eggs or oocysts.The results showed that parasites were detected in seventeen goose farms,and the total infection rate of parasites was 100%(17/17);a total of seven species of parasites were found,namely Eimeria anseris,Eimeria stigmosa,Eimeria farri,Tyzzeria parvula,Amidostomum spp.,Capillaria spp.and Strongyloides spp.,and the corresponding infection rate were 35.29%,52.94%,11.76%,76.47%,35.29%,29.41%and 5.88%,respectively;in coccidia,the dominant species were T.parvula and E.stigmosa,and the dominant species in nematodes is Amidostomum spp.Most geese flocks were mixed infected with several parasites.The rate of flocks mixed infected with two parasites was 47.06%.One flock was infected with seven parasites at the same time.2.A case of diagnosis and treatment of goose coccidiosis in Wuzhong District of SuzhouAccording to the epidemiological investigation,clinical symptom observation,necropsy lesion observation,and laboratory diagnosis,a case of goose coccidiosis was diagnosed.E.anseris was the main pathogen of this case.Subsequently,eighty-five sick geese were isolated and divided into two groups.They were treated using toltrazuril or diclazuril,respectively.The remaining geese were prevented with amprolium.The results showed that seven days after administration,the goose spirit,appetite and feces in the two treatment groups returned to normal,and no death occured.No new cases occured in the group with amprolium.The results showed that toltrazuril solution and diclazuril solution had obvious curative effect on goose coccidiosis,and amprolium hds a good preventive effect on goose coccidiosis.3.Efficacy of toltrazuril and mixture of amprolium hydrochloride and sulfaquinoxaline sodium on geese artificially infected with E.anserisIn order to further observe the control effect of triazinone anti-coccidiosis drugs on goose coccidiosis,the efficacies of toltrazuril and mixture of amprolium hydrochloride and sulfaquinoxaline sodium against coccidiosis of domestic goslings caused by E.anseris were tested.The results were as follows:the anticoccidial index(ACI)of toltrazuril was highest(195.5),and belonging to high efficacy against coccidiosis.ACI of the mixture of amprolium hydrochloride and sulfaquinoxaline sodium was 160.9,and belonging to medium efficacy against coccidiosis.The results showed the two drugs could be both used to controll goose coccidiosis.Toltrazuril is more effective against goose coccidiosis,and can be used as the preferred drugs for the prevention and treatment of goose coccidiosis in clinic.
