Effects Of Mixed Sowing On Growth And Turf Quality Of Cynodon Dactylon Cv. Xinnong No.1

In order to prolong the green period of Cynodon dactylon cv.Xinnong No.1,with field condition and pot experiment simulating shallow and deep soil layer,the effect of turf establishing,turf quality and interspecific competition of mixture turf mixed by different proportion of bermudagrass and tall fescue,kentucky bluegrass or quackgrass were studied by completely random experimental design,the optimum mixed sowing combination was screened out and dynamic changes of mixed-sowing populations was explored.The result showed:(1)In field conditions,compared with mono culture,bermudagrass could emerge early 0.3 to 1.6 days under mixture,and mixed with tall fescue could accelerate turf establishing,the opposite for mixed with kentucky bluegrass.Compared with mono culture,the green period could prolong for 14 to 38 day under mixtures.In pot experiments,the effects of mixed sowing and single sowing on emergence time of bermudagrass and mixed grass were not significant.However,mixed sowing with tall fescue and quackgrass remarkably accelerated turf establishing for 2-14d,and prolonged the green period for 0-33d,and the longest green period treatment was 30%bermudagrass+70%tall fescue.(2)In field conditions,for turf quality,the treatments of bermudagrass mixed with tall fescue were generally superior to the treatment of bermudagrass mixed with kentucky bluegrass,and turf quality was the best for 30%bermudagrass+70%tall fescue,followed by 70%bermudagrass+30%tall fescue,50%bermudagrass+50%kentucky bluegrass.In pot experiments,the sequence of turf quality of mixture turf from high to low were mixed with tall fescue,quackgrass,and kentucky bluegrass,and 30%bermudagrass+70%tall fescue had the best performance,followed by 50%bermudagrass+50%tall fescue.For the treatment mixed with quackgrass and kentucky bluegrass,50%bermudagrass+50%of kentucky bluegrass and 50%bermudagrass+50%quackgrass respectively showed the best.(3)Interspecies competition analysis showed that competition of bermudagrass was more than kentucky bluegrass under mixed sowing,but mixed with tall fescue and quackgrass,when bermudagrass proportion was more than 50%,competition of bermudagrass was more than tall fescue or quackgrass,less than 50%was the opposite.In all,whether field conditions or pot experiments,in first year of mixed sowing,the mixture turf mixed with bermudagrass and tall fescue showed the best,and the mixed ratio of 3:7 was relatively stable.
