Analysis On The Introduction Of Malus‘Adams’in Ningxia

Crabapple(The species of Malus)are one of the traditional famous flowers in China,with abundant germplasm resources.In recent years,a series of North American ornamental crabapple varieties have been introduced in many regions,which further enriched the species of Chinese ornamental crabapple.In order to guide the popularization and application of new varieties of Begonia in Ningxia,and Provide new high quality germplasm resources for urban landscaping,in this reasech we introduced Malus ’Adams’,compared with Malus ’Radiant’,which has been identified as an improved variety in Ningxia.The introduction and breeding bases were established in Yinchuan and Guyuan of Ningxia.We observed florscence and fruit period characteristics with the phenological observation method,compared and evaluated its growth characteristics,ornamental characteristics and benefits with the quantitative analysis.The results shows that:Based on the quantitative analysis of the survival rate,the growth of branches,the plant height and the ground diameter of Malus‘Adams’,the results showed that the spring planting was better than the autumn planting,and the planting with soil ball was better than the bare root planting.The survival rate of Malus ’Adams’is over 91%.The survival rate of Malus ’Adams’ in Yinchuan area is 3%-3.6%higher than that in Guyuan.The annual branch growth of Malus ’Adams’was 23.6-26.7 cm.The annual branch growth of Malus ’Adams’ in Yinchuan was 1.7-3.1 cm higher than that in Guyuan’.The plant height growth of Malus‘Adams’was more than 30cm,and the average value was no more than 35cm’.The ground diameter growth of Malus ’Adams’was more than 0.4 cm,and the average value was no more than 0.8 cm;The growth of ground diameter in Yinchuan is 0.2 cm higher than that in Guyuan.In addition,the survival rate of split grafting was 8.2%higher than that of bud grafting;The new shoot length of split grafting was 16.9 cm longer than that of bud grafting;The diameter of new shoots of split grafting was 5.8 mm larger than that of bud grafting.There was no significant difference between the Malus‘Adams’and Malus ’Radiant’.The Phenophase of Malus ’Adams’ in Yinchuan was 4-7 days earlier than that in Guyuan’.The flower color of Malus‘Adams’and Malus‘Radiant’belong to the red line,and the leaf shape and color changes are similar,there is no significant difference’ The fruit of Malus‘Adams ’ was slightly larger than Malus’Radiant’,and the color of fruit changed at different developmental stages’.The fruit weight per plant of Malus ’Adams’ was 50.5%higher than that of Malus‘Radiant’,and the fruit bearing rate in winter was 79.1%,which was 53.3%higher than that of Malus ’Radiant’.In a word,Malus ’Adams ’ is an excellent variety,which is suitable for planting in Ningxia.The successful introduction of this variety enriches the germplasm resources of landscape trees in Ningxia,and creates economic benefits for seedling industry.
