Genetic Evaluation And Genetic Parameter Estimation In Chinese Merino Sheep (Xinjiang Type) Using REML And BLUP

Bay sheep farm in Xinjiang is one of the earliest one which have bred Chinese Merino sheep(Xinjiang type).In order to explore the suitable genetic evaluation programs,this research collected 19 years of identification records and shearing records in Bay sheep farm from the year 1992 to 2010.The effects of birth years and groups on capilli score(CS),wool staple length(WSL),wool density score(WDS),wool bending score(WBS),wool fineness score(WFS),body size score(BSS),body condition score(BCS),breed grady score(BGS),evalution weight(EW),clean fleece weight(CFW),greasy fleece weight(GFW)were analyzed using GLM procedure of SAS 9.0 software.The results showed that birth years had a extremely significant effect on CS,WSL,WDS,WBS,WFS,BSS,BCS,BGS,EW,CFW,GFW(P<0.01),except BGS,groups had a extremely significant effect on the other 10 traits(CS,WSL,WDS,WBS,WFS,BSS,BCS,EW,CFW,GFW)(P<0.01).According to the significant level of various factors,a division to fixed effects was conducted.Genetic parameter estimation and genetic evaluation of Chinese Merino sheep(Xinjiang type)was conducted using animal model BLUP method and DMU software.The variance components of WSL,WFS,BSS,BCS,CFW,GFW were analylized,and genetic parameter and mutual genetic correlation between each other were estimated,the effect value of the fixed effects were calculated,the breeding value(BV)of individual WSL,WFS,BCS,CFW,GFW were calculated,the comprehensive breeding values(CBV)of Chinese Merino sheep(Xinjiang type)were estimated according to the breeding values of the 3 traits(WFS,EW,GFW)determined by breeding aim,a selection and remain in a flock of sheep was made.The hereditary of the 11 traits of CS,WSL,WDS,WBS,WFS,BSS,BCS,BGS,EW,CFW,GFW were respectively 0.276,0.292,0.280,0.256,0.286,0.273,0.270,0.220,0.296,0.321,0.355.In 1992～2010,the top ten rams in Bay sheep farm were respectively 4558,4113,3350,3051,8481,3957,6070,3293,3293,5899,its comprehensive breeding values were respectively 15.725,10.296,10.072,9.891,8.632,8.365,8.254,7.878,7.826,7.592,the top ten ewes were respectively 215,73460,263,3501,7266,27558,44687,20733,99317,2605,its comprehensive breeding values were 12.420,12.092,11.592,8.776,8.523,8.012,7.853,7.447,7.370,7.280.
