The Investigation And Research In Landscape Of Australian Plants At Guangzhou

The planning and construction of plant landscapes is an important part of modern city development.South China urban gardens are rich in plant landscapes,but permanent plant varieties have slightly drab.The introduction of foreign plant resources in landscaping has become an important trend in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.Many Australian landscape plants with unique plant shape,thriving leaf color,and beautiful flower.The application of Australian landscape plants enriched the urban plants landscape,and made residents feel the beauty of nature intuitively,adding vitality to urban life.This dissertation takes Guangzhou as an example,conducts field surveys on 36 plots,studies landscape applications of Australian plants in conjunction with relevant literature,and makes suggestions on which needed to be improved.Analytic hierarchy process(AHP)was used to comprehensively analyze Australian plants’ ornamental value,ecological adaptability and landscape application potential,which combined with characteristics of different Australian plants,scoring 42 Australian landscape plants adapted to the environment of Guangzhou.The survey found that Australian landscape plants(excluding Australian plant species in the South China Botanical Garden)commonly used in Guangzhou public gardens and green areas are Schefflera microphylla and Melaleuca bracteata(frequency 83%),Callistemon viminalis(67%),Araucaria heterophylla(61%),Acacia podalyriifolia(53%),Archontophoenix alexandrae with Wodyetia bifurcata and Callistemon speciosus(47%),Melaleuca leucadendron(44%),Callistemon citrinus(33%).By using analytic hierarchy process(AHP),2 species were ranked as excellent:Melaleuca bracteata and Schefflera microphylla;10 species ranked as suitable:Archontophoenix alexandrae,Callistemon viminalis,Acacia podalyriifolia,Melaleuca leucadendron,Grevillea banksii,Casuarina nana,Eucalyptus exserta,Wodyetia bifurcata,Araucaria cunninghamii and Leptospermum brachyandrum.According to ratings and characteristics of 42 Australian landscape plants,thefollowing five kinds of common garden landscapes under the form of Australian plants are summarized.(1)Collocating Australian plants with other plants: Australian plants form a composite landscape structure with other arbors,shrubs and herbs.Patterns are:Araucaria heterophylla + Kigelia africana + Saraca dives + Ceiba speciosa +Alpinia zerumbet +Hibiscus Rosa +Ruellia simplex.(2)Collocating Australian plants with landscape architecture: In architectural prospect,the landscape should be simplify and transparent.Higher varieties are often used in background.Patterns are: Archontophoenix alexandrae + Arenga pinnata +Stromanthe sanguinea + Neomarica gracilis.(3)Collocating Australian plants with garden sketch: Generally,shrubs and herbs are planted around the sketch;when the sketch is larger,collocate a composite background structure of arbor-shrub-herb to highlight the garden sketch.Patterns are:Grevillea banksii + Ruellia simplex + Cuphea hookeriana.(4)Collocating Australian plants with landscape terrain: Terrain landscapes are mostly arbor-shrub-herb structures.Australian plants match with natural water by using arbor-shrub-herb structures,which simulates a natural landscape.Patterns are:Callistemon viminalis + Bauhinia variegata + Lagerstroemia indica +Rhododendron pulchrum + Stromanthe sanguinea.(5)Collocating Australian plants with road and square: Australian plants are neatly planted in a regular manner to create open space.Additionally,embellish ornamental leaves and flowering varieties create good landscapes.Patterns are:Roystonea regia + Wodyetia bifurcata + Ixora chinensis + Loropetalum chinense var.
