According to the relevant data of the World Health Organization(WHO),the number of visually impaired people in the world is about 285 million,of which 39 million are completely blind, and 19 million are children under the age of 15.Visual impairments greatly limit the ability of visually impaired children to walk, resulting in a very limited range of safe movement.Orientation walking is the most important skill for visually impaired children to get out of the community and into the society. At present, the traditional directional walking training method for visually impaired children is mainly blind school education.Although it has certain effects, there are some problems in this method:(1)the professional teachers of directional walking are seriously insufficient;(2)the visually impaired children have been in a familiar environment for a long time.Internal training leads to low motivation and efficiency of training;(3)Due to the lack of a relatively safe social practice environment, visually impaired children rarely have the opportunity to practice social walking, which makes it difficult for them to enter the society. After investigation,it was found that directional walking training requires the support of related aids to have a better training effect. However, there are almost no aids for directional walking training for visually impaired children on the market. Therefore, this topic proposes the design of directional walking training aids for visually impaired children based on Augmented Reality(AR),which mainly uses the Easy AR4.Combined with the "Amulet" audio source accessories,an AR audio simulation training scene suitable for directional walking training for visually impaired children is created. This topic takes the research status of directional walking aids as the starting point, and analyzes that the use of smart phones as the carrier, and the use of augmented reality technology to achieve directional walking training has become the main research trend. Then, combined with the characteristics of visually impaired children and the related needs of their directional walking training, this topic clarified the design requirements of directional walking aids, and proposed a mixed training equipment in real space and virtual space, which uses audio augmented reality to Expand the range of directional walking training and make training more interesting. To validate the proposed design concept, the research uses Unity3 D and Arduino to implement an AR directional walking mobile application and a prototype of the "talisman" sound source accessory, and conduct experimental tests on blindfolded children. The experimental test consists of three parts: the effectiveness test of AR directional walking training aids, the controlled experimental test-the comparative effect test of crossing the road between the intervention group and the non-intervention group, and the accuracy test of the sound source accessories. Then, according to the analysis of experimental data and interview data,we can find that our proposed scheme can effectively help blindfolded children perform directional walking. The directional walking aids proposed in this topic currently have certain deficiencies and need to be further optimized iteratively. However, the prototype of the program trains children by simulating real social scenes. After experimental training,it has been proved that it can effectively meet the relevant needs of directional walking training for visually impaired children. The device is also capable of simulating social reality, helping visually impaired children better transition to social walking practices. The device has low cost, high social value and practical significance.
