Abstract/Summary:
With the economic globalization,the aviation industry has shown a booming trend.The flight attendants are the display window of the airline,and their service quality directly affects the image of the airline.The basic quality of English language communication skills possessed by flight attendants is an important prerequisite for providing high-quality services.But the current situation is that the English level of domestic airline flight attendants is generally at a low level,especially the spoken English level is the most obvious.Therefore,for the students majoring in flight attendants in higher vocational colleges,oral communication teaching is an important part of English teaching that cannot be ignored.However,their oral English teaching has not yet reached a satisfactory level.From the perspective of student learning,the vast majority of students have no interest in or lose confidence in spoken English.For English teachers,their teaching methods are still teacher-centered,focusing on exam-oriented education and English vocabulary and grammar,and have not experienced Pay more attention to the teaching of students’ speaking skills.Therefore,it is necessary to explore and innovate the oral English teaching mode for flight attendant majors in higher vocational colleges,so as to effectively improve the students’ speaking ability.In the 1980 s,the task-based teaching method began to emerge and gradually developed,becoming a teaching method recognized and accepted by linguists and foreign language teachers.It emphasizes focusing on the meaning of language in the learning process rather than just being limited to form.In the classroom,learners truly "learn" in "doing" and "do" in "learning".From the current research,there are many studies on the application of task-based teaching model in universities,primary and secondary schools,and less on the application of this teaching model to flight attendant majors in higher vocational colleges.In this case,the author applies the task-based teaching method to the oral English classroom of flight attendant majors in higher vocational colleges to test whether the task-based teaching method can effectively improve the oral English level of flight attendant majors in higher vocational colleges.Based on Willis’ task-based teaching model,this study selects flight attendant majors in higher vocational colleges as the research object.Using the method of experimental research,the following two research hypotheses are put forward: 1.The task-based teaching method can improve the oral English level of the flight attendant majors in higher vocational colleges;Interest in learning spoken English.In the research process,the first class of the second grade of flight attendant major in a higher vocational college in Baotou is used as the experimental class,the task teaching method is used for teaching,the second class is used as the control class,the traditional teaching mode is used,and the teaching experiment period is one semester.Before and after the experiment,students in both classes will take an oral test.The test data was input into SPSS26.0 for analysis,and the changes in the oral English scores of the two classes were compared,so as to understand the influence of the task-based teaching method on the students’ learning attitude in the foreign language oral teaching.At the end of the experiment,a questionnaire survey and interviews were conducted with the students in the experimental class to understand the students’ attitude towards this teaching method.Through the data analysis of the oral test,it is found that the oral performance of the experimental class has been significantly improved compared with the control class.Through the analysis of the questionnaire data,it is concluded that from the three dimensions of cognitive dimension,emotional dimension and behavioral dimension,the oral ability of the students in the experimental class is higher than that of the control class.The learning attitude has improved significantly.The research results show that it is feasible to apply the task-based teaching method to the foreign language teaching,which can significantly improve the students’ foreign language ability.Motivation,and gradually build up interest and enthusiasm for oral English learning.
