| As the connection between water transportation and land transportation,port is becoming more and more important in shipping and trade area.As a leading force in the world’s port construction,China’s port transformation and upgrading is imperative.Since 2008,some major ports in China have begun to put forward the construction concept of "smart port",and relevant research has also become a hotspot.Domestic scholars focus more on the connotation and future shaping of smart port,while foreign scholars focus more on the application and prospect of smart technology in port operation,and the research on the impact of smart technology application on port operation efficiency has not received enough attention.Thus,this study tried to discuss from the perspective of smart technology and port efficiency by using research methods such as literature review and empirical analysis,and takes 9approved ports in the "Smart Port Demonstration Project" launched by the Ministry of Transport in 2017 as the research object,to quantitatively measure dynamic port efficiency and the impact of smart technology application on port efficiency.In the research on quantitative measurement of port efficiency,based on domestic and foreign literature,this paper uses the total operating cost,total assets,the number of production berths,the length of production terminals and the number of employees of port enterprises as input indicators,and the operating revenue,cargo throughput and container throughput of port enterprises as output indicators,and applied DEA-Malmquist index in discussing dynamic port efficiency.The Difference-in-Difference model is also applied to add the control group port data and control variable to discuss the impact of smart technology on port efficiency.The conclusion of this paper shows that according to the research on port dynamic efficiency,the productivity of the nine smart ports in China increased significantly,indicating that the smart port project has a positive impact on the improvement of port technical efficiency of these nine ports to a certain extent.The results of the research applying Difference-in-Difference method show that the start of the "Smart Port Demonstration Project" plays a positive role in promoting the dynamic efficiency of the port,which reflects the effectiveness of smart technology in improving the port efficiency.The outcome of control variables show that the foreign trade level,economic development level and total urban freight volume of port cities can positively promote the improvement of port dynamic efficiency. |
