Research On Application Of BOM Management In F Company

With the globalization of automotive industry,China’s automotive industry has developed significantly in recent years,improving the infrastructure of many OEMs and the supply chain construction of the automotive industry.Nowadays,diversified products and personalized services have become an important demand in the automotive consumer market,and most of automotive manufacturers have turned their production model into mass customization.It becomes an important issue for automobile manufacturers to provide personalized products and respond to market changes quickly.In order to fix the issue,in addition to strengthening product development and improving service capability,automobile manufacturers are paying more and more attention to internal management of enterprises.With the advent of the information age.,the importance of enterprise information management is becoming increasingly evident.As a factor of production,information is the basis of business management activities.With gradual expansion of the enterprise scale and more complexity of the products,it is difficult to manage dramatic increasement of information in the enterprise.Product Lifecycle Management is one of solutions to manage complex and changing data,which can benefit cost management,quality control,and innovation activities during product development.As the core data of manufacturing enterprises and throughout all stages of product lifecycle,Bill of Material(BOM)is an important element of product lifecycle management.Based on the theory of BOM,this thesis analyses the problems of BOM management in automotive industry,the improvement program of BOM management,and the case of Company F.This thesis introduces the current situation of BOM management in the automotive industry and analyzes the causes of BOM management problems in Company F.Then the study contains a series of solutions,including building an enterprise BOM,applying a configurable BOM model,improving management methods,and applying a BOM-oriented collaborative management platform.The solutions can enable all functional departments to jointly maintain BOM data and share product information in product lifecycle,which can reduce total cost and improve efficiency.Finally,the case study of prototype BOM illustrates the importance and solutions of BOM management.The research results can be a reference for domestic automobile enterprises,and also have enlightenment significance for information strategy construction of other manufacturing enterprises.
