Nowadays,with the continuous improvement of national requirements for urban construction,as well as the improvement of citizens’ material living standards and their demand for leisure and entertainment,the city square as a platform to reflect the city’s cultural features and characteristics,and citizens’ leisure and entertainment activities is of great significance.However,hexi Corridor area is in a inferior position both in quantity and quality due to its remote urban location,harsh climatic conditions and poor traffic conditions.Therefore,explore city in hexi corridor of the city square landscape design principles and strategies,use can meet the demand of the city,with the characteristic of city square image to promote urban development in hexi corridor,improve square function efficiency,increase the hexi corridor urban citizens’ approval of city square and ownership is the problem to be solved.At present,the urban square landscape design research of hexi Corridor cities is relatively scarce,and the status quo of urban square landscape design has not been systematically grasped,and the research results are rare,and the system is not perfect.This article is based on the hexi corridor urban background conditions and the status quo,through the analysis of the research of the hexi corridor city square design present situation,combining with square participants as well as the designer’s Angle of view to consider problem,it is concluded that the existing common problems,put forward in accordance with the hexi corridor city square landscape design of the new train of thought,combining with the character,Then wuwei city square for detailed research,analysis and summary,draw the corresponding design strategy and use in practice.First,analyze the research background,synthesize the research status at home and abroad,think deeply about the research purpose and significance of the project,and briefly describe the research content and methods.Secondly,the background conditions of hexi Corridor cities are analyzed and studied.Through field investigation,interview,data summary and problem discovery,the satisfaction degree of citizens and the current situation of landscape design of hexi Corridor urban square are understood,so as to sum up landscape design principles suitable for Hexi Corridor urban square.Third,based on the city square landscape design in hexi corridor and common problems in hexi corridor and the summary of the city square landscape design principles,in the hexi corridor wuwei east gate of the city as an example,combining with the above ideas wuwei city square landscape design research analysis and summarized the status quo,explore the corresponding hexi corridor landscape design in city square construction strategy,Its strategy mainly starts from the research question,combines the present situation to carry on the design level analysis.Fourthly,the example is used and verified.
