Research On Jiangnan Garden Space Under The Transition Of Modern Women’s Social Role

Jiangnan area has a special position in the history of Chinese gardens.The researches on jiangnan gardens are mainly from the perspectives of historical evolution,spatial phenomenon,architectural layout and detailed decoration,and their achievements mostly reflect male aesthetic orientation.In recent years,the spatial research based on the transformation of women’s social roles has become the focus of academic circles.This topic conforms to this trend,based on the research results of jiangnan modern garden history and culture,and from the perspective of female observation,elaborates the spatial characteristics of women in jiangnan gardens and the causes of the spatial transformation trend.Firstly,the thesis investigated the historical remains of modern gardens in Jiangnan area and made a preliminary spatial syntactic analysis of garden forms.By understanding its distribution,scale,quantity and current situation,the main types of modern jiangnan gardens and the definition and connotation of garden female space are clarified.The research shows that the modern gardens in Jiangnan can be divided into three types: private,public and semi-public.The gardens have definite feminine temperament,and the social cultural trend of thought and female social role are the important reasons that affect the change of female space in modern gardens.The topic systematically combs the role and spatial development of women in modern China.Through comparative study,the inner relation between the transformation of female social role and the development of garden space in jiangnan is clarified.The research holds that the modern period is the transition and development stage of the female space in jiangnan gardens,which mainly includes two stages: the traditional women in the feudal society and the closed female space,and the modern society.The characteristics of female development and garden space in different stages show that the change of national production mode and cultural trend is the direct cause of the change of female role and space development,and also the main factor of garden space transformation.The topic analyzes the internal mechanism of the female space transformation and development in jiangnan gardens in modern times.By studying the traditional female social role and space scope,this paper points out the characteristics of female space and space syntactic data in private gardens,and then summarizes the spatial characteristics of gardens.The research shows that the space of traditional jiangnan gardens is introverted and closed,with relatively single function,exquisite scale,strong appreciation,and obvious gender distinction and femininity,and the overall utilization efficiency is low.The social concept of "male leading and female subordinate" in the traditional society and the lifestyle of traditional women were one of the elements that influenced the garden space in this stage,and this kind of space also deepened the confinement of traditional women to a certain extent.By studying the new concept of the social role of "female citizen" in modern times and the changes of female space in gardens,this paper points out the characteristics of female space in urban parks,villa gardens,campus gardens and open private gardens,and summarizes the overall characteristics of garden space and data characteristics of space syntax.The research holds that the garden space of Jiangnan in this stage is more extroverted and open,with relatively diversified functions,expanded scales and enhanced practicability.It has not obvious gender distinction and femininity,and the overall utilization efficiency of space is high.The social expansion of female roles and living space is one of the important factors promoting the transformation of garden space in Jiangnan at this stage.The increasingly open public garden space also provides more opportunities and platforms for women’s liberation.Finally,the author summarizes the modern transformation trend of jiangnan gardens and its influencing factors.Through the comparative study of the spatial characteristics of jiangnan gardens in two stages,the author puts forward the development trend of jiangnan gardens in modern times from private to public,from dominant to gender equality,and from low efficiency to high efficiency.The research shows that the drastic change of culture,economy and garden concept in modern society is the core driving force for the transformation of garden space.The cultural integration and social expansion of jiangnan gardens are the main factors of its transformation and development.The change of female cultural concept,the expansion of labor field and the social expansion of female space are the subject factors that promote the transformation of garden space.This paper aims to study the garden space of jiangnan in modern times from the perspective of women,deeply discuss the influence of the change of women’s social role on garden space,promote the study of garden history,culture and sociology,and have a certain theoretical significance for the protection and inheritance of jiangnan garden historical heritage.
