Research On The City Style Planning Based On Semiotics

As one of the characteristics of the city,city style is a comprehensive product formed by the highly complex combination of city history,culture,resources,and spirit.It is different due to the unique cultural and material environment of each city,and the city has gained recognition.With the homogenization of urban construction,people are beginning to realize that the issue of city style and features derived from the extension of the image and characteristics of the city,is related to the inheritance and continuity of traditional history and culture.As a result,so many cities have begun to actively plan and control the urban landscape.However,due to the non-statutory nature of the current city style planning,its research content and compilation methods have not reached consensus in the industry.So,how to use new methods to promote the perfection of city style planning is a problem that needs to be solved urgently.This article takes city style as the research object,draws on relevant theories and methods of semiotics,and examines related issues of city style from the perspective of semiotics.The article can be divided into seven chapters :Chapter 1 introduces the research background,purpose and significance of this subject,research status at home and abroad,and determines the research content and scope of this thesis.Chapter 2 expounds the related theories of semiotics and urban style,and discriminates related concepts.It pointed out that as a form of expression of cultural phenomena,there are many semiotic features in city style.It is believed that the application of semiotics in city style can help convey the information contained in city style and can further reflect the composition law of city style.Chapters 3 starts from the three aspects of syntactics,semantics and pragmatics,respectively constructed the superficial and deep structures,the relationship between the signifier and signified,and the context classification of the city style symbol system,establishes the connection between the material and cultural elements of the urban style.Chapters 4 discusses the semiotic techniques that should be used in the process of city style shaping from three perspectives.Case studies are carried out for different use environments and conditions.Chapters 5 takes the Jingchu area as an example.On the basis of analyzing the context from pragmatics,uses syntactics and semantics to classify the symbols of Jingchu style,provides the corresponding strategies and methods for its application in different stages of city style planning.Chapters 6 takes Wuhan Optics Valley area as the object,applies the above methods to the area’s style shaping process,thereby basically demonstrating the feasibility of semiotics in regional city style planning.Chapter 7 summarizes the main conclusions,innovations,shortcomings and prospects of this article.This article aims to supplement the existing city style theory through semiotics,and provide a new way to shape the city style,so as to better promote the research of modern regional urban characteristics.
