As a significant component of Public Medical and Health Services,large-scale general hospitals show a trend of rapid growth along with the progress of society,science,and technology.It might be indispensable to make a monographic study on them,which would be distinguished from other public buildings,on account of their unique characteristics of large construction scale,complex function,strong professionalism,and high technical requirements.Architectural design,as an important part of engineering construction,plays a decisive role in the cost and schedule of engineering construction that the level of design could directly affects the quality of them.The improvement of the design management concept is conducive to the scientific and reasonable construction process of the project that the win-win effect of environmental,social,and economic benefits could be achieved.Moreover,it could be promoted to the sustainable and healthy development of modern healthcare buildings.Therefore,this paper summarizes the prominent problems in the design management of large-scale general hospitals from two aspects which are exactly the research of theories and literature and the case analysis of engineering project,taking the design management of large-scale general hospitals as the research object.Design management problems are mainly reflected in three aspects which are namely the extensive design management and the contradiction of design interface,the disconnection between medical technological design and traditional architectural design,the confusions of design information management.First of all,the PMI optimization model should be proposed to solve the problems of design management process and interface by optimizing the design management organization pattern,improving the design process at each period,and increasing the design review link.Secondly,the issues of disconnection between medical technological design and traditional architectural design could have been figured out by integrating medical technological design into the whole-process of traditional architectural design and simultaneously utilizing advanced technical means to simulate and visualize the medical environment.In the third place,the matters of design information management could be settled by adopting collaborative design pattern and information management system,standardizing electronic document storage and so forth.In the end,the PMI optimization model has been applied in the YD hospital so as to test the effectiveness of various optimization measures.By means of analysis and research,we can promote the establishment of the design management concept in Healthcare Construction in China.Through the preestablished design management process,methods and measures,design management would be transformed into a whole-process comprehensive management that can avoid the situations such as disassembly,rework,waste,and redesign,which could be caused by inadequate design management.Based on the targeted solutions to the process,interface,information,and other problems encountered in practice,design conflicts between different specialties could be avoided.In addition,good communication channels would be established to provide the possibility for the completion of high-quality Healthcare Construction on schedule.
