It is of great significance for the linear design of freeway,the reduction of traffic accident rate and the improvement of vehicle operation safety to carry out the safety evaluation research on freeway design and find out the sections with potential traffic safety hazards in the design stage.Interactive Highway Safety Design Model(IHSDM)is introduced into the design of freeways.According to the actual situation in China,the Model is improved,and the Design Safety evaluation Model suitable for freeways in China is constructed and the system framework is designed.To a certain extent,it can reduce the property loss caused by traffic accidents and the reconstruction cost caused by the lack of alignment design,improve the safety of the alignment design of freeway,and lay a foundation for the safety evaluation of freeway.Based on IHSDM,this research takes a freeway in Heilongjiang Province as the research object,and carries out the construction of safety evaluation model and system framework design of freeway design.Firstly,on the basis of collecting and collating data of freeway alignment design,traffic characteristics,road environment and traffic accidents,the distribution characteristics and influencing factors of freeway accidents were analyzed,and the applicability of IHSDM in China’s freeway was analyzed by comparing the Chinese and American freeway alignment design.Secondly,on the basis of analyzing the disadvantage of existing models,the improved evaluation model of freeway design consistency,consistency of design and the function relation between the accident rate is analyzed,considering the accident rate is given the design of the correlation between the consistency evaluation index,evaluation method by contrast to build model,IHSDM and guide,verify the validity of the model.Based on the traffic accident data from 2015 to 2017,the prediction models of freeway basic sections,variable speed lanes and ramp accidents were established.The models included two parts:the baseline accident prediction model considering the factors of section length and annual average daily traffic volume,and the accident correction factor considering interference factors.The validity of the model was verified by goodness of fit test and comparison of the constructed model and IHSDM prediction results with the accident data of 2018.Finally,according to the above freeway safety design model is established for freeway design safety evaluation system framework design,through to the system overall demand,system target,the analysis of the working process and key technology,combined with the geographic information system is given of the overall system architecture design,overall framework,database and model base.The research results can provide guidance for freeway design,enhance the safety design consciousness of freeway designers,improve the traffic safety during the freeway operation period,and reduce the hidden danger of freeway safety.
