In this paper, a study on the design consistency of expressway is summarized. It starts with analyzing expressway traffic safety status in China, and discusses the road factors which affect expressway design consistency in detailed. The emphasis is on horizontal alignment especially in design consistency evaluating academic model of expressway alignment in chapter 4. This Model is developed on the base of this three horizontal alignment, which are expressway section average radii, the ratio between the length of curves in expressway section and the total length of the same section, the ratio of minimum to maximum radius. The objective of this paper was to develop tools that could be used by designers and decision-makers for evaluating different alignment alternatives for design consistency. Then a statistics design consistency model was developed on the base of actual expressway alignment and more then three years accidents data. The regression effect of this model was validated very well. At last, an evaluating criterion to the regression result is suggested.
