Recent years,the world economic shrinks which leads to the slowdown of world trading.Container shipping business,which compared to the vein of world trading,is deeply impacted.AME company is a company which has been in shipping business for more than 170 years,under above mentioned background,it was migrated by CGC group,which only has 40 years shipping history,a comparatively new power in shipping business.The employees of AME company were facing great uncertainty with AME company’ migration and the situation of whole shipping business.The management of AME company is facing the giant challenge of leading this company to battle at the market competition,and the same time,is urging for maintaining and improving employee engagement.Through reading many of related researches and combining related theories of employee engagement,this research tries to sum up the driving elements of employee engagement.And then based on the reality of AME company,it refers to authoritative human resource management consulting agency Gallup Q12,as to generate the outlines of interview of employee engagement.Also,this research uses a well-known measuring tool which developed by Hewitt,to conduct the questionnaire survey of employee engagement of AME company.After the questionnaire survey done,test of reliability and validity was done base on the survey result,as to make sure the result is reliable and valid.Combining the related of interview and questionnaire survey,it finds there are below problems of the employee engagement of AME,they are:(1)employee has too limited chances to career development(2)lose balance between work and personal life(3)compensation system is outdated(4)performance management process is not clear enough.Aiming at above problems,it is suggested to improve the employee engagement with below methods:(1)optimize the system of employee training and promotion system(2)help employee to keep balance work and life(3)improve the effectiveness of motivation system(4)strengthen the performance management system.Through above methods,it is expected to help AME company to overcome its own defects,to utilize its own advantages,manage the risk and challenges of the shipping business and seize the opportunities by motivating its employees,as to enable AME company to realize its value and generate continuable profit.This research studies the employee engagement and gains certain research achievement.It is hoped that it can provide reference for the practice of improving employee engagement in the same industry or similar companies.
