Non-motorized vehicles have gradually become an indispensable mean of transportation in many people’s lives because of their green and convenient characteristics, but behind their rapid development is the hidden danger of traffic safety that cannot be ignored.Compared with other areas of urban sections, the curbside bus stop district is the place whose traffic order is more chaotic, and where the conflict between non-motorized vehicles and buses is more serious. To ease serious conflict issues between non-motorized vehicles and buses in the region of the curbside bus stops, and improve the safety and comfort of non-motorized vehicles when passing through the bus stop districts, this paper analyzed the safety of non-motorized vehicles when they passing through the bus stop districts, and found an effective method to evaluate the safety level of the area based on traffic conflicts technique.Firstly, the paper described the basic characteristics of non-motor vehicles and the operation process of non-motor vehicles in the bus station area.Through the investigation of typical straight-line bus stations, the scope of the bus station area was determined, and the speed changes of non-motor vehicles with and without buses were compared through the recorded video analysis. The results showed that for both bikes and e-bikes,the stopping of the bus significantly affected their speed as they moved through the bus stop area.In addition, through the analysis of the video recording the track of non-motor vehicles in the region of the bus station,it was found that non-motor vehicle driving path has changed greatly, only less than 10%of the rider from a non-motor vehicle road by bus station area, most of the riders chose the left side of the road to through the bus.The arrival distribution of non-motor vehicles and buses was analyzed, and it was found that the arrival distribution of non-motor vehicles in the morning and evening peak hours was different from that in the morning and evening peak hours. The arrival of non-motor vehicles in the morning and evening peak hours showed greater fluctuation, while the arrival of non-motor vehicles in the flat peak hours was more stable. Then based on the characteristics of non-motor vehicles and arrival charaterisitcs, using generalized event count(GEC)model, selected the non-motor vehicles, buses, bus traffic traffic stop time three factors conflict prediction model was established, the results proved that in the range of discrete data, the fitting effect of GEC models have more advantages than the Poisson regression model,The distribution of conflicting data was not determined in advance. Finally, considering the different impact degrees of the conflicts between bicycles and electric bicycles and buses, the regional safety evaluation model of non-motor vehicle bus station was proposed, which took the non-motor vehicle comprehensive traffic conflict rate()as the evaluation inde,,and the grey-variable-weight method was used as the evaluation method to divide the safety levels. The non-motor vehicle traffic safety in four straight line bus stations in Xi’an was evaluated and analyzed.According to the evaluation results and the actual operation of non-motor vehicles in bus stations, the corresponding improvement suggestions were given.
