The two-child policy leads to a significant increase in the number of children.As a result,urban space planning and design need to pay more attention to the children’s outdoor activity space for their body and mind.However,in hot and humid areas,the weather conditions of high temperature and humidity seriously affect the children’s outdoor activity.Furthermore,Good experience in public space will have an influence on children’s physical and psychological growth.From this point,it is of far-reaching significance to study the thermal comfort of children in outdoor space activities.The study researches typical children’s outdoor activity space in Guangzhou,through the analysis of the thermal environment,questionnaire,interview,observation and records to study the thermal environment in summer in Guangzhou children park and children’s activity in that park,combining children thermal comfort theory to analyze the hot and humid condition of children outdoor space.And then,based on the thermal comfort orientation,the study suggests the improvement design strategies for children’s outdoor activity space in hot and humid areas.This paper mainly carries out the following three works:1.Study on outdoor thermal comfort of children in hot and humid areas.Based on adult thermal comfort evaluation theory and indicators,the study combines children’s physiological characteristics and behavioural characteristics to build up a children’s outdoor thermal comfort model and then quantitatively evaluate children’s outdoor thermal comfort.2.Evaluation of thermal comfort of children’s outdoor activity space in hot and humid areas.Based on three landscape design perspectives of different underlying surfaces,different shading levels and different contact surfaces,the study analyzes thermal environment differences and thermal comfort evaluation of children’s outdoor activity space.3.To put forward the optimal design strategy of children’s outdoor activity space in hot and humid areas with the optimization of thermal comfort as the orientation.Based on the thermal environment differences and thermal comfort evaluation in the second point,the study proposes design strategies for the children’s outdoor activity space in use and the space to be constructed.
