| The quality of the outdoor environment has direct influence on the outdoor activities for safety and comfort, and greatly influences people’s mental state and physical health, therefore, the optimization of the environment of the urban outdoor space has become the focus of attention of city planners and urban residents. With the rapid economic development of society, the accelerating process of urbanization, the continuous improvement of people’s living standards, make people to the requirements of the environment higher. Thermal environment are important factors of the outdoor environment, the comfort of the outdoor public space thermal environment directly affects the status of people in outdoor activities; relation with people’s lives; impacting on the spiritual and material life of the people as well as the development of tourism, therefore, research for the comfort of the thermal environment of urban outdoor public space has practical significance.This paper first introduces the status and research results of domestic and foreign scholars studying the thermal environment of urban outdoor public space, from climate, physiological and psychological aspects introduces the influence of thermal comfort, analyzes and compares the existing human thermal comfort evaluation index.Then actually measure four meteorological parameters(bulb globe temperature; air temperature; relative humidity; velocity) from selected Xi’an three typical public spaces(bell building square, Xingqing Gong Park, the wild goose northern square of Buddhist pagoda) in summer and winter. Test results show that:solar radiation is the main factor of affecting thermal comfort no matter summer or winter. park become the best place for people to go in hot summer, and people have a strong dependence on shade; open square become the best place for people to go in cold winter, and people have a strong dependence on the solar.Use the way of questionnaire to research people’s subjective thermal sensation in outdoor public space. The questionnaire mainly aims at human subjective factors, such as physiological and psychological factors. Physiological factors aim at the gender difference and the behavior to improving thermal comfort conditioning; psychological factors aim at the period in outdoor activities. The results of the study show that; men better adapt to the hot environment and cold environment relative to women no matter in summer or winter; in summer, people will choose solar radiation weaker from6:00to9:00and after18:00in the outdoor activities, in winter, people will choose strong solar radiation from10:00to16:00in outdoor activities; people are basic satisfactory to Xi’an outdoor thermal environment.This paper correct the existing human thermal comfort evaluation by using mathematical statistics analysis software combined with measured date and questionnaire analysis, and then gets the evaluation equations to evaluate summer outdoor space thermal environment in Xi’an.Take the typical meteorological year data into the summer outdoor space thermal environment evaluation equations, and then get:in Xi’an area, the heat environment (CSV date of between1.0to2.0) is in late June, early and middle July, middle and late August, the hottest environment (CSV date in2.0above) is in late July and early August.Puts forward a solving outdoor space thermal uncomfortable method, which is evaporative cooling technology.
