The design of a highway bridge, like most any other civil engineering project,is dependent on certain standards and criteria.Naturally, the critical importance of highway bridges in a modern transportation system would imply a set of rigorous design specifications to ensure the safety and overall quality of the constructed project. The purpose of the study is to compare the behavior of prestressed concrete continuous box girder bridge by developing an integrated three-dimensional finite element model by using three codes.In-depth research and integration of Chinese,American and European standards and technical differences,a comprehensive analysis of the highway loads, the effect of load combinations, load capacity limit states, and normal use limit states have been conducted.Moving loads use for this study are:-AASHTO LRFD HL-93 Standard Truck and lane loading-Eurocode: Load Model-1(LM1)-Chinese code;Chinese Standard lane Loading(CH-CD)Midas Civil 2020(v3.1)finite element analysis software has been used to establish the Finite Element Analysis model of PSC continuous box girder bridge.Three different FE models have been prepared in which dead load, superimposed dead load, creep & shrinkage parameters are the same, only moving loads and tension control stress for prestressing as per Chinese code,AASHTO LRFD and European Code have been changed to make a comparison in the software. Results have been compared concerning moving load cases, load factors, load combinations, and prestress losses from all three cases.Based on the calculation and analysis of the bridge, the technical differences between China,American, and Europe bridge specifications are discussed from the perspective of Bending Moment,Shear force,Torsion, deflection, and prestress losses. This thesis presents a complete description of the bridge system, addressing the aforementioned parameters and presenting the results through figures, graphs, and tables.
