Belt conveyors,a transportation equipment widely used at present,have become a major device in the fields of coal,logistics,etc transportation.With the scientific technology development,belt conveyors are evolved to be larger conveyed amount,longer distance and higher efficiency.To solve the problems such as deviation,belt breakage,etc.During the operation of belt conveyors,many manufacturers have applied various kinds of protective switches.Once there is any relevant failure,the belt conveyor will stop operation to ensure the safety of both the operator as well as the the converyer itself.However,with the conveying distance of belt conveyors becoming longer,it has become a critical problem how to determine the position of the motion switch accurately.Currently there are some systems relying on coded sequences to position failure,which bring so much inconvenience for installation,since such system usually needs to be opened for coding when being installed.To solve the problems above,a GPS-based open-air fault positioning system for belt conveyors was designed in this project.When this system is being installed or when the position of the protective switch of the belt conveyor changes,no repeated coding is required;besides,in case of any failure,the geographical information of the fault position will be sent automatically to the operator,making the system strongly practical.In this thesis,firstly the GPS positioning logic was discussed,and the uncertainties caused by GPS were analyzed in detail.On this basis,a method to improve the fault positioning accuracy of belt conveyors was proposed and an overall design scheme of GPS technology-based fault positioning system was provided.Secondly,the hardware circuit of the collection station and the master station of the GPS-based fault positioning system of belt conveyors were designed.With STM32 single-chip microcomputer as the core controller and based on the actual requirements of the system,GPS module,CAN bus module,RS485 module and other peripheral circuits were designed,based on STM32 software was designed for the monitoring module,the communication module and the upper computer,including the main program,the GPS data receiving program,the CAN bus,the RS485 communication program and the monitoring program of the upper computer.Finally,an experimental prototype was made,on which the overall function verification,GPS positioning accuracy test and feasibility test were conducted.The test results were analyzed and the feasibility of the whole system and the legitimacy of the design were verified.This system can greatly improve the accuracy and convenience of fault location of belt conveyor,and has certain significance to improve the efficiency of belt conveyor construction.
