Research On The Design Of Elderly Companion Products Based On Kansei Engineering

Today’s society is an information age full of emotions.Li Lixin once said that the future direction of design is sentimental design,and the discipline of Kansei Engineering is most closely related to sentimental design.With the advent of the aging society,the elderly population is increasing year by year,the elderly companion products as the elderly users can be seen everywhere in their daily life,has attracted great attention from all walks of life.There are a variety of companion products for the elderly with different morphological characteristics,which can be divided into four categories: emotional entertainment,spiritual comfort and support,physiological and environmental testing and management,and life assistance.Through the analysis of four types of the old man with the product,it is concluded that the adapt to the crowd and scene,analysis its structure form,functional orientation,etc.,it is concluded that the existing old man on the market with product design directivity,pertinence is not strong,weak product confusion,and many other shortcomings,especially failed to form a system design strategy and design model.Therefore,it is necessary to produce a design system of companion products in line with the physiological and psychological characteristics of elderly users and their needs,so as to improve new ideas for the design and development of companion products for the elderly.This paper firstly sorts out the theoretical context,design process and methods of Kansei Engineering,defines the concept of companion products,analyzes the current research status and limitations of products for the elderly,and combines Kansei Engineering into companion products for the elderly to obtain the design elements of companion products for the elderly.Secondly,user research and specific analysis of the design of elderly companion products were carried out.Through online questionnaire survey and offline user interview,users’ needs were obtained,users’ pain points were found and the focus of the design was separated out.Use perceptual technology involved in the research method of product design,sample collection and screening products and the emotional vocabulary,build the old company product perceptual image space,the user requirements,product design elements were combined with typical perceptual image vocabulary,through semantic differential method importance ratings and quantitative statistical analysis of relevant design model are obtained.Through user analysis and analysis of elderly companion products,design principles based on Kansei Engineering are obtained,design strategies are constructed and combined with relevance model to guide subsequent design practices and provide product design guidance based on Kansei Engineering for the design of elderly companion products.To sum up,this paper discusses the guiding role of Kansei Engineering in the design of companion products for the elderly from both theoretical and practical aspects,constructs the design strategy and design element model of companion products for the elderly,provides more thinking angles for the design of companion products for the elderly,and promotes the design progress of companion products for the elderly.
