Research On Risk Management Of EPC Projects In Africa During The COVID-19 Epidemic

With the implementation of my country’s "One Belt,One Road" Initiative,more and more Chinese companies are going abroad to explore overseas international engineering markets.At present,my country’s Engineering companies have taken over nearly 70% of the African market share.In response to the national "going out" strategic call,coupled with the support of various national policies,more and more companies are going out overseas,making the competition worse.at the same time,different countries in Africa have different political and economic environments,making the risk management more difficult.The large investment in international engineering projects,long cycles,and complex application of new technologies have made it difficult for companies to obtain high returns year by year.Africa is already the largest market for Chinese construction contracting companies,and international engineering risk management in this region is crucial.A scientific and reasonable risk management level can not only bring economic benefits to the participating Chinese construction EPC companies,but also enhance the competitiveness of the companies.Since December 2019,China has first detected the pneumonia epidemic COVID-19,and the global outbreak of the pneumonia will begin in 2020.Many countries have adopted closed borders and home isolation.Numerous flight companies have blown and the global economy has been shut down.So far,many overseas engineering projects have always been under "stop orders".For international contracting companies,the losses are countless.As the EPC general contractor of an international engineering project,if the contract management and subsequent countermeasures are not handled properly,the company will suffer heavy losses.From the perspective of international EPC general contractors,this thesis first introduces the background and significance of risk management research on international engineering projects in Africa,consults a large number of documents,summarizes the current status of risk research on international engineering projects at home and abroad,and briefly introduces risk management Related theories,sort out the characteristics of international engineering,the problems of EPC model and risk management process.Finally,taking the Ghana overpass project as an example,using the relevant theories and knowledge of project risk management,identifying various risk factors during the construction phase of the project during the epidemic,and using AHP-fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to evaluate and comprehensively evaluate each factor.Summarize the specific risk response and preventive measures during the construction of the project during the 2020 epidemic.This article hopes that through the risk management research during the COVID-19 pandemic period,May it can provide a certain reference for the risk management of construction projects during the current pandemic period,and also provide some help for Chinese contractors who are about to enter the African market in terms of the risk and cost of bidding.
