At present, the rapid and large-scale construction of Railways in many countries in the world, especially in China,is under way.At the same time, cities along the railway, especially along the high-speed railway, have planned and implemented the new construction or transformation of railway stations.Because of the advantages of the natural flow of people, the progress of the city and the change of people’s life style, the railway station has been endowed with the conditions for the transformation to the urban complex. In order to make intensive use of urban land resources,on the premise of ensuring the normal operation of railways,a series of explorations and practices have been carried out on the development of the upper cover complex of railway stations, and the integrated planning and architectural design of railway station buildings and surrounding land have been actively carried out. However, the development and construction of railway station cover complex in China is still in its infancy. The lack of relevant theoretical knowledge and practical experience of vertical traffic organization under the multi-function vertical overlapping mode has resulted in the isolation of railway station cover complex from urban space, the singleness of cover function structure, the confusion of traffic flow lines, the low transfer efficiency, the bad transfer environment and the insufficient space vitality.Firstly, starting with the relevant theories and practical cases at home and abroad, this paper summarizes the trend and characteristics of the development of railway station buildings from single function to overhead complex.Secondly, the concepts related to the overhead complex of railway station are clarified and analyzed, and the architectural characteristics of the overhead complex of railway station are summarized. At the same time, the vertical traffic organization of the overhead complex of railway station is summarized.Components, basic characteristics and influencing factors.Thirdly, through literature research, field research and expert interviews, case studies were conducted on eight railway station superstructure complexes in Japan and two railway station superstructure complexes in Korea, and five of them were taken as key case studies to analyze the development characteristics of each railway station superstructure complexes. Then, the article analyzed the basic vertical function composition and work of the railway station superstructure complexes.Five research cases are analyzed in three levels from three aspects: combination mode and vertical spatial layout. The vertical traffic organization principles and control strategies of the upper cover complex of railway stations are summarized. At the same time, the paper summarizes the vertical traffic organization of the railway station top complex, puts forward the vertical traffic organization method of the railway station top complex, and puts forward the vertical traffic organization mode and the humanized design of the vertical traffic organization suitable for the future development trend of the railway station top complex in China. Finally, the conclusion is analyzed and validated through the Shapingba Railway Station Overhead Complex Project. The research object of this paper is the extension of TOD field-station-city integrated development and construction, especially the development of the research direction of land comprehensive development and utilization along railway transportation, which is helpful to improve the lagging status of the theory and practice of the development of railway station superstructure. This research conforms to the process of rapid development and construction of urban railway transportation in China and promotes the development of railway in China. The development of the station upper cover complex and its vertical traffic organization design have certain guiding significance.
