With the advancement of industrialization and urbanization,the landforms,characteristic houses and lifestyles of many traditional villages have been gradually obliterated.In particular,the traditional settlements of ethnic minorities in remote mountainous areas are facing more severe tests and urgently need to be concerned and protected.The traditional settlements and dwellings of ethnic minorities are important manifestations of the traditional culture of ethnic minorities.They are related to the natural environment,historical background,ethnic development,and economic level of the ethnic group.Guangxi Liuzhou Rongshui Miao Autonomous County is the only Miao Autonomous County in the region and the largest Miao settlement in Guangxi.It contains buildings with ethnic characteristics.Traditional settlements also represent unique regions in terms of landscape imagery,location selection,and spatial form.Cultural characteristics are also an important part of Guangxi’s traditional vernacular architectural culture.The thesis adopts a variety of methods to conduct research in stages.Through the method of document analysis,field investigation and oral narration,and interviews,we can understand the architectural culture background of Rongshui Miao nationality and grasp first-hand information.Using a multidisciplinary approach to study the settlements and houses of the Rongshui Miao nationality from the perspectives of ethnology,historical geography,and architecture,analyze the cultural background and connotation of the traditional buildings of the Rongshui Miao nationality from different perspectives to grasp the Rongshui Miao nationality National and local characteristics of traditional settlements and residential buildings.In particular,the internal mechanism and cultural connotation of the evolution of the traditional settlements and residential buildings of the Miao nationality in Rongshui are grasped by analogy.The paper summarizes the geographic types,spatial forms,and main components and characteristics of the traditional settlements of the Rongshui Miao nationality.The formation of settlements is the result of the interaction between the natural environment and the production and lifestyle.The layout of the home.Selecting typical Miao residences for analysis,the dry-lane buildings of Rongshui Miao ethnicity have not only the universal characteristics of folk residences in northern Guangxi,but also their particularities.It mainly elaborates and summarizes the characteristics of Rongshui Miao’s residential buildings from the aspects of living style and plane form to structural framework and decorative features,and analyzes and interprets the internal evolution mechanism of Rongshui Miao’s residential buildings.The differences between Rongshui Miao’s residential buildings and other ethnic groups The transformation is caused by many factors behind the national cultural connotation,construction technology and cultural communication.After absorbing foreign culture and mature construction technology,the way of living has evolved from building to residential building,and the building is more open and adapts to the needs of modern lifestyles.This article also breaks down the construction process of Rongshui Miao traditional building,reveals the craftsman’s wisdom in the process of construction of Rongshui Miao people’s trunk fence,and summarizes the construction technology and construction rules of Rongshui Miao traditional residence.This article hopes to enrich the database of traditional minority buildings in Guangxi through the research of a relatively complete understanding of the Rongshui Miao settlements and dwellings.It is hoped that subsequent researchers can have a new perspective on the Rongshui Miao people.
