Research On The Rural Design Of Kunming Urban Fringe From The Perspective Of Human-environment Interaction

Villages on the urban fringe are the spatial products of the diachronic evolution from the Human-environment interaction.The urban fringe is the growth boundary of the city,and it is also the subduction of most marginal villages in China.Rapid urbanization over the years has led to an uncontrolled urban growth between cities and urban fringe.The consequences of the ineffective use of rural land and infrastructure lead to the loss of biodiversity and a massive outflow of labour to city industries.An increasing number of hollow villages around the countryside requires proper rural design and effective reconstruction to resolve the incomplete urbanization at the urban fringe.This thesis studies the rural areas in the urban fringe from the perspective of human-environment interaction.It describes the development and changes of these rural areas under the influence of the Human-environment interaction and relations between urban and rural by exploring the rural characteristics and spatial problems of Kunming’s urban fringe.Based on the Rural peculiarities in Kunming,morphology and case comparative analysis were adopted to sort out the types of villages on the east bank of Dianchi Lake.And the thesis put forward the Leisure sightseeing,the intermediate type and the Daily life type.The key elements of the rural area are divided into different contexts,such as texture,street and lane,building and nodes.By looking into the same spatial issues happening in different areas,this thesis includes different spatial design strategies to tackle different types of villages in the urban fringe.This thesis proposes that the research on the rural design of Kunming’s urban fringe needs to be guided from the perspectives of Human-environment interaction and relations between urban and rural.From the “Symbiosis of urban and rural”,“Cut the coat according to the cloth”,“Strength under control”,“Restricted situation”,“Reserved flexibility” principle,through the“Reclassification” “Set goals for different types of villages” and the “ Element divided into different contexts” of Rural design path.Based on this,this thesis proposes the rural design strategies of villages which close to Kunming’s urban growth boundary.
